Re: AMF Top 1000 Albums of All Time, 2020, RESULTS!

The reason I frequently prefer the lower halves of a list like this is because it always contains the more unusual picks. Take for example that Popol Vuh album that just drops in out of absolute nowhere without warning. I haven't heard it so I have no opinion on it, but I love how random it feels i...

Re: Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time (2020 edition)

Arcade Fire, through The Suburbs, had proven themselves as the most commercially successful indie band in the United States. They hit #1, beating Eminem in the summer of 2010 - who could have predicted that coming? Arcade Fire and Vampire Weekend were a signal change in American rock music - a death...

I feel vindicated on How I Got Over now...I probably think that is my favorite Roots album.

The Stone Roses is often regarded as one of the top 100 albums ever.
Considering it wasn't on the original list and then 498 in 2012, that is a big improvement.

So, so much neo-soul on the list now. And yet The Roots only get one album and Common doesn't make the list?

I can see why not comparing the number of streams would be useful for comparing songs from the last decade, but I feel like streams are more indicative of popularity for older songs (and would be less susceptible to fluke popularity spikes from appearances in movies and whatnot).
