As much as I love IGOR, Bandana feels like the rap album that will get the most acclaim come year-end time. Eilish’s album is brilliant, but sadly I think it will suffer from the FutureSex/LoveSounds effect. Tons of publications will keep it off their lists just because it’s a megaselling pop album...

I like NFR! a lot and it will certainly place well in my AOTY list, but I can't help but thinking how much replay value a 67 minute album comprised almost entirely of ballads will have in the long run. Here's how my list is shaping up eight months into 2019. The domination by women is astonishing - 19 of my top 20 are by women or have female vocalists! This has been an ongoing trend over the second half of this decade, but this year, the women have almost completely taken over. Risers over the las...

This is a fine list, but it's also evokes no personality -- it's more or less the same list any other critic may have made for the 70s, with a few modifications. I wonder what inspired them to do this now -- and why are no major critics going for all-time lists anymore??
