Lennon definitely. McCartney is a great songwriter too of course, but Lennon has more of the songs with meaning and McCartney has more of the saccharine bubbly ones.

Re: Top 100 Greatest TV Series of All-Time

Friends is one of those shows that's the best show at doing what it's trying to do, but what it's trying to do is kind of shallow.

I remember last time we did a TV poll here, Romain and I had the same top 4 exactly except 2 and 3 switched.

Magnetic Fields - Quickies is good. Not on the level of 69 and 50, but better than Distortion/Realism/i. There's the usual songwriting wit. Like a song called "The biggest t*** in history". At the start of the song you think she's talking about breasts, and it becomes more and more clear as the song...

Streaming and CD. Whenever something is, say, in my top ten of a given year, I want a permanent copy of it that isn't affected by changing licensing agreements. Also I bring CDs on car rides because it's easier to change a CD while driving than to type in a new search term. Otherwise I use streaming.

To me The National have released six year end top ten albums in a row, and are the only band to be able to claim that. Just, Alligator is the weakest link among them, the other five were all deep in the conversation for AOTY, so it’s easy to neglect it.

I still think stuff like King of the Delta Blues should be eligible, cause even though they were compilations, if albums were a thing when the songs came out they would have been albums.

Flaming Lips peaked pretty late, no? They started in 1986 and best albums were 1999 or 2002. They were about the same age for Yoshime as Fiona Apple is now.

Also, for me Nick Cave’s peak is Abbatoir/Lyre.
