I use AOTY but don’t go by average. I look for albums that received the top possible rating from a good publication, even if other publications rated down their average.

Moor Mother is another excellent discovery.

I've got a program that randomizes what albums to listen to and the higher on the list they are the more often they come up. But unless I'm doing a tournament or something my favorites might come up 3 or so times a year.
