Sorry I couldn’t get into more detail but it was late over here and.....Corona Virus????? Yeah I’ll blame that on the slothful ways ;) But it is tragic that his passing is pushed so far back in the NEWS with all the goings on today. He deserves better but I guess it’s understandable

Re: Bands that are most famous in their native countries (and whether or not they deserve wider attention)

Los Angeles had a punk band called Face to Face. In fact the lead singer recorded to most arrogant, self centered tag, I guess is what they call it, for KROQ about how important they are to the LA punk revival scene and how they started all and no one would be there without them. I’m like “ok, liter...

Was listening to The First Taste by Fiona Apple. That song which I thought was a standout on the album at the time, but now omg that is a sensational song and one of her all time best. I had to put it on repeat it was so incredible and I was so glad I added to my playlist on Spotify. And she wasn’t ...

I gained a lot of respect for Nic Hartcourt for voting Tilly and the Wall’s o as his album of the year in 07 and this is coming from a Rodney guy here in LA. He was big into the Chameleons, Doves, Belle and Sebastian, Catherine Wheel and Cocteau Twins too so his tastes were at times quite Godhead. H...

Kind of too little too late with the deadline but the grey area about proto punk for me was Television. A band labeled proto punk who’s debut album was released a year after the first actual punk bands debut? Never understood that logic.

It’s very critic friendly just on a superficial basis alone. Artsy being that it’s on 4ad. They’re also an indie folk band from Brooklyn so that in itself you know was gonna put it in the top 10 alone. I think because of this is the same reason it won’t make number 1 this year.
