Re: Album Club Discussion #8: Charles Mingus' Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus

I’ll admit I don’t have the most articulated opinions when it comes to Jazz records, I’ve only just started listening to the classics like Coltrane, Monk and others. I will say this is pretty nice though! I read up on Mingus while listening to this and found out he was born in my hometown in Arizona...

This was a long one so it took a bit to listen to it all again. For my money, I think Quadrophenia is the superior of The Who’s classic concept albums. I love Tommy and it’s story/lyrics are arguably more interesting but I always end up finding myself relating to this album’s themes of class frustra...

I’m going to try and avoid talking about the context this album was released in and its influence since I’m sure most people on this site already know about it. Re: End of the decade is coming, predictions for top 5 EOD toppers?

As for the one that I think will top the most lists, I think Kanye has it by a mile. Not with a mile; I think To Pimp a Butterfly is going to give it a run for it's money. It might even defeat it. To Pimp a Butterfly currently feels as the album that encapsulates the decade best and it is by the mo...

They probably won’t top as many lists as the albums you all mentioned (which all deserve it), but I would have to imagine that The Suburbs and Lemonade stand a good chance of topping a few lists since they were list toppers themselves for a lot of websites
