All due respect to the folks at the A.V. Club, but I'm going to enter the actual rankings of these albums into the spreadsheet (e.g., Daft Punk aren't #11, they're #12). Can't stand things like that.

I must have missed something here. Why Daft Punk appears at the top on the list when their album does not figure in the top 20 of the Otisredding's list? Because they're two very different lists. Otisredding's bimonthly Mega-Critic list is based on time-of-release reviews, while the EOY spreadsheet...

This would appear to be a genre list - Laut isn't a metal magazine. I had to look at last year's list to remember that they are a general-interest music site (2012's top 3: Hot Chip, Grizzly Bear, The xx). There will be an overall top 50 forthcoming.

I just noticed that the top 20 list is incomplete - it only contains 19 albums. The full list only appears in the print magazine. Does anyone know whether there was a 3-way tie for #18, or a #20 album? Thanks!

Its website, resident-music.com, has decent Alexa stats (current rank: 872,502; sites linking in: 151), and I'm assuming its EOY list is compiled by several people. This is a brand new (as of this year) site. It doesn't quite have the Alexa stats for inclusion yet (particularly the link-ins), but I can check back periodically as the EOY process goes on. It can take time for a new site to establish itself.
