I hate to bash your favorite album, but that Grimes album is the one that made me throw my hands in the air and say "I give up 2012" :) There were a lot of albums that got me to that point, but that one specifically put me over the edge.

I'm hoping this year the lists we declare now will just work as placeholders in case somebody disappears or something, so we don't have to sit and wait for everyone to make a pick. This year I'm thinking matches will be announced one day before they start and we can declare any changes privately to...

Re: Brian Wilson's Ear aka: Is there a doctor in the house?

The only nice thing about stereo remasters is that it sounds normal next to modern music when shuffling or making playlists. However it isn't how it was intended to be heard. Same thing goes for MFSL releases or other orignal masters releases. They sound better but sound out of place next to modern ...

Re: Storytelling (spoken word) songs

The best part about Donovan's Atlantis is the chorus at the end, but the majority of the song is spoken word.

It's not a song but Harry Nilsson's soundtrack for The Point is fantastic with about 6-7 songs and narration between.

So, the lists now really mean nothing or do we have to have an initial list and can change what song we choose from that list up until the matchup. This is how I'm reading it: Initial lists already posted: set in stone once the tournament starts, but you can choose any song from that list for each m...

Brian Wilson's Ear aka: Is there a doctor in the house?

I'm somewhat of a mono enthusiast if that's the way it was recorded, but I've always questioned something people say about Beach Boys records. They say that you should listen to Beach Boys records in mono because that's the way Wilson heard the records. That can't be true can it? He could only hear ...

It's probably going to stay weak until the end of August for music, you don't see many albums that aren't top 40 released in the summer. Usually, when college radio gets back into full swing is when you see good music start to get released again. So, minus maybe a couple albums, there's 4 months to ...

Actually, I'm pretty sure Beavis and Butthead wouldn't headbang to any of those songs. But, seeing as they debuted in '93 and the smilie was there, I couldn't resist. They might have given their trademark giggle to that Liz Phair title.
