Re: Recommendation Thread: 1970

I wish I'd have realised it sooner, but I've just revisited Focus Plays Focus (aka In and Out of Focus) and found that I remembered all of the songs from when I listened to it as a child! So that brought back a lot of memories for me. Very nice early prog rock with a lot of elements of psychadelic a...

I'll leave it till later to post the lists as I'm still working on them. Just wanted to recommend the album Cold Fact by Rodriguez (already in a couple of people's lists) as it's one of the hidden gems of the year, in my opinion. Re: Albums of 2014

I'm so conflicted about this Blank Realm album. I can definitely see some good things in it - the songs are pretty catchy, and some of the instrumental jams are nice, but the sloppy playing and off-key singing repels me a bit.

Whoever ends up doing this poll, I am so ready for it. The '60s probably has my favourite albums overall, but the sheer amount of good music that was made in the '70s is just staggering. Plus, it's the decade in which punk arrived and I can only thank it for that! :D

Kind of a mixed bag with Yeezus. Black Skinhead and New Slaves are great (and I love Bound 2), but as a whole there's no way in hell it compares to any of his other albums bar 808s and Heartbreak, and even then I think I prefer that one.

I figure this has happened to me often enough for me to make a thread about it. There are some songs you like. And then there are other songs--whether it's the first time or the 20th time you've heard them--which hit you in such a way, and end so quickly, that you've just got to put them on repeat. ...
