There is currently 9 albums with a score higher than an 8 on Any Decent Music's Top Rated New Albums chart....that's remarkable. I don't know if it's really been that great of a month, or if the critics are just going a bit bonkers.

Also, I have many close friends who are very involved with the underground metal scene who are raving over the Behemoth record. I want to listen to it now with an open mind to the fact that it just may not be a genre I understand much and try to pull out the appeal.

I would say I might be equally floored by St. Vincent and Benji equally. They are both stunning. It seems 2014 is already putting out records at the same quality, if not better than the top releases of 2013.

As for first vinyl....I actually won a contest with a local radio station that gave me what their listeners considered the 100 greatest classic rock vinyls. Included all the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Zeppelin staples etc.

I'm glad "I Need My Girl" got a high listing here, I'm surprised the critics totally missed this one. I feel it was overshadowed by some of the other stellar tracks on Trouble Will Find Me

There still isn't a standout album for 2014. I am enjoying the new Against Me! though. Pretty fun melodic punk music, making for a nice little listen.
