Did you even bother to check the link above? The site takes snapshots of websites to form a historial archive of the internet. Going back to when it started archiving AllMusic's pages in 2012, the album's rating has remained unchanged. Looking at the album's wikipedia entry shows the same results - since the AllMusic rating was added in 2011, it has been rated at 4.0 stars.

It's fair enough if you think the album should be rated higher. God knows there are hundreds of albums that I feel are under-rated by AllMusic and deserve an upgrade.

The Fragile - now 4 (used to be 3)

Bad Witch - still 3.5

Seems like AllMusic were unhappy with those changes:

The Fragile has been further upgraded to 4.5 stars.
Bad Witch has been downgraded to 3 stars. (boo!)

AllMusic have made another huge change to many of their ratings. All of the following albums were released in the 2010s and have been awarded a full five-star rating. It's a long list so here goes...:

EDIT -The following has been upgraded to a four and a half-star rating:
The following has (very sadly) been downgraded to a four-star rating:
The following has (almost as sadly) been downgraded to a three and a half-star rating:

Beyoncé's B'day has also been downgraded to four stars. So I guess there might be even more changes.

Ugh, how did I miss those three off... Especially 'Old', which was the album that initially alerted me to the changes.

'Post' was upgraded earlier in the year, along with several other 90s releases. That's right, AllMusic have gone on two five-star upgrading sprees in a year! I don't expect it to happen again any time soon.

AllMusic made these changes to her discography back in April, when 'Homecoming' was released.

Oops, not sure how I missed that!

On a sidenote, I'm curious when Allmusic will finally pull off a YHF on MBDTF.

Seeming as they just upgraded 'Yeezus', I doubt it will happen for some time. It would also make Kanye the only hip-hop act with more than three five-star studio albums! At best, any upgrade in the next few years would likely involve switching the ratings between MBDTF and one of Kanye's three five-star rated albums.

Really dissappointed that I missed so many updates off that post last weekend. Some of my favourite albums this decade too! Oh well, here's another update from AllMusic - it seems Coldplay's discography is undergoing a ratings overhaul:

Coldplay - X&Y and Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends have been upgraded to 4.5 stars.

Downgraded to 3.5 stars on AllMusic:
Beck - Morning Phase

Edit: Woops, always had this rating to begin with. Silly Wikipedia vandals.

The following two Taylor Swift albums were bumped up to 5 stars by AllMusic:

Fearless
Red

Actually, Fearless got a bump I believe two years ago. So I'm surprised nobody mentioned it yet. I'm also pretty sure 1989 will eventually get a bump to at least 4.5 stars, given all the End Of Decade accolades it's getting.

I have no idea why My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy hasn't gotten a 5 star bump yet, but in time, I'm pretty sure it will.

Seems like they chose Yeezus over My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. That may seem like an odd choice from the outside but AllMusic have never seemed to bow to the zeitgeist surrounding the album. I wonder if their editorial team even noticed it's the only Kanye album users have given a full five-star rating too...

With exeception to 2018 & 2019 which are too recent to deem classic status, AllMusic is probably done upgrading albums from the last decade for now. In this series of re-ratings they have upgraded over 120 entries from the 2010s! Hopefully they'll alter entries from the 80s, 90s and 00s next. There are now less five-star albums for the 00s than the 10s, which is bizarre.

Just a friendly reminder to those posting that this thread is "for reporting of rating changes, or missing ratings on AM." Please check the Acclaimed Music website to see if the albums are listed or already have the correct rating before posting.

Morning Phase has the correct rating here (looking at the page history, I believe someone has been messing around with the wikipedia entry) and neither Fearless nor Red are currently listed on AM's Taylor Swift entry page. I expect that will change when the End-of-Decade lists are all in, collated and finally added but for now that's probably a long way off.

Allmusic categorically gave 5 stars to every (non-classical) 2010-2017 album that made their best of decade list. It’s a substantial change in their process. Until now they have generally based the 5 star rating on influence as well as quality. This is why they take so long to assign an album its top rating and why an artist’s earlier albums are more likely to be granted 5 stars than more celebrated later work. They didn’t abandon their belief system entirely: not a single 2018 or 2019 album got the 5 star rating. Still, the decision to upgrade all of their top 2010-2017 albums at once is a new practice. And it’s the main reason why so many albums from this decade were honored while In Rainbows, Illinois, Ys, Fleet Foxes, Sound Of Silver - all listed in their respective year-end best-of recaps - are still waiting. Wilco’s Yhf didn’t get promoted until just a short while ago. Hopefully amg doesn’t renege a few months from now on its top ratings for the albums on its new end-of-decade list, but frankly a lot of the upgrades (eg, for albums by Jimmy Cliff, Shakira, Miranda Lambert, QOTSA, Tribe Called Quest, etc.) were pretty shocking. (To be clear, I’m talking about their procedure. I’m not commenting in any way on those albums’ quality).

Mentioned this in another thread but End of Year/Decade articles were something AllMusic didn't start doing until 2008 and even then that was as retrospectives. It's taken them many years to embrace it the way outlets like Pitchfork always have. When the end of 2009 rolled around, they never would have rolled out a carpet for the decade the way they have in 2019. Instead they were happy to update maybe 20-30 entries every five years or so. Which means the 00s has only around 40-60 five-star studio albums compared to the 120+ albums they've just updated for the 2010s.

I'll be honest, I think updating around 100 or more albums from the 2000s to a full five-star rating is now a priority for them. Especially as the Christmas period is upon us, which means fewer new releases to review. Things won't pick up again until a couple of weeks after the new year so they have plenty of time to get it done.

As others have previously mentioned here, AllMusic also have glaring holes with their 80s and 90s (and to a lesser extent 70s) five-star ratings. It is either damning of cumbersome editorial practices or a lack of cultural awareness that highly influential and widely acclaimed albums like Disintergration or Hounds of Love still haven't been awarded a higher rating. They could do with someone from Acclaimed Music going through their database with our Top Albums list to plug in those gaps.
