Excellent albums this week, it has been particularly difficult deciding on brackets 3 and 4.
Note: the 1952 album "Moanin' the Blues" is not on Grooveshark or Spotify but you can find every song on it (go here to see the track listing) on different compilations. The most acclaimed Williams compilation, 1978's "40 Greatest Hits" includes only 5 of the 8 songs but there is a 2008 compilation called also "Moanin' the Blues" that includes the eight songs (and four more) in different order (Spotify).

1. Clipse- Hell Hath No Fury over Flaming Lips - Embryonic. - Both very solid albums but I never really seem to remember the songs on embryonic as well as I should, perhaps it is rather forgetful or I could be suffering severe memory loss at 21. But either way, there's also no way Clipse is going to the next round.

2. Todd Rudgren - Todd over Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien. Okay Satriani's guitar playing is crazy good, I don't really seem to understand shredding like I used to earlier in my teenage years though, just doesn't strike a chord with me anymore.

3. Nina Simone - Wild is the Wind over Kings of Convenience - Quiet is the New Loud - Kings of Convenience offers nothing special to my years, while Simone's record is quite good.

4. Pass for now. I may vote for it later in the week

Flaming Lips--Embryonic

“Hell Hath No Fury” was a lot better than I expected (since I’m only familiar with Clipse’s singles, and didn’t like most of them). But I love the dark side of The Flaming Lips (even “The Terror,” which has received mixed reviews this year).

Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien

Two artists I respect (although these aren’t my favorite albums by either). I prefer Rundgren to Satriani overall; but I slightly prefer “Surfing With the Alien” to “Todd.” (In the case of Satriani, I also prefer the pupil to the teacher, since I like Steve Vai even more.)

Nina Simone - Wild Is The Wind

I hadn’t heard the Kings of Convenience album before, and it turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. However, I consider “Wild is the Wind” an absolute masterpiece. One of the all-time great voices.

Hank Williams - Moanin' The Blues

I became familiar with Compay Segundo through the World Cup, and this is a wonderful album. Unfortunately, as with the previous bracket, it’s up against a long time personal favorite. Still, a very difficult choice.

Strong week overall: I gave half the albums (Flaming Lips, Nina, Hank, and Compay) a B+ or better.

I would vote for this one on the unlikely event of a draw, I enjoyed both about the same.

I can't say I really enjoyed Todd but I would consider Surfing With the Alien one of the 3 worst AM3000 albums I have listened to.

Both nominated by me I think and both are lurking around my 100th place of all time. I find it odd that not more people are stunned by the wonderful harmonies of Kings of Convenience. But it's not just the harmonies, every song here has a great melody and the laid back acoustic arrangements that are right down my alley. "Quiet Is The New Loud" has no lows whatsoever and gets my vote.
