I remember seeing Live at the Hollywood bowl for the first time with a few friends and everyone was focusing on Jim, but I couldn't keep my eyes off Ray. My love of the Doors isn't as strong as it used to be but they played a big part in my teenage music loving years. :(

I don't know if I can think of anyone other than Slash that reached their level of fame solely from playing an instrument in a rock band. The Doors to me were all about Manzarek, and Morrison got in the way most of the time. True, without Morrison, The Doors would have never reached the heights they did. Morrison is the guy that made the band legendary, Manzarek made them listenable.
