Random Rules August - Submissions

Post by Brad »

It's the first Monday of the month, and the lists are already coming in, so I'm gonna kick off the next addition of Random Rules.

All you need to do now is submit your list of 10 random songs - the next ten that come up via the random generator on your entire music library. We'll pull them all together then start the next part in a couple days (48 hours or 10 lists, whichever comes last), then start the (slightly revised) elimination process to create the Random Rules Jukebox for August.

I'll post mine later tonight. Blanco pre-submitted his - I'll post that next. dumbangel - let me know if you want me to re-post your list in the other thread here, or feel free to submit a new one if you'd like.

Have fun!

My list:
1. Bob Dylan - Outlaw Blues
2. The Robot Ate Me - Oh No! Oh My!
3. The Flaming Lips - Race For The Prize (awww, seriously?)
4. Patti Smith - Dancing Barefoot
5. Big Star - Lovely Day (Demo)
6. Frank Zappa and the Mothers Of Invention - The Orange County Lumber Truck, Part 1
7. The Louvin Brothers - I'll Be All Smiles Tonight
8. Exploited - Punk's Not Dead
9. Wooden Shjips - Losin' Time
10. Big Star - Feel

Aargh, an already-winner song and a band duplicate. Oh well... pretty good representation, I feel. Minus the Malkmus factor.

I have a good idea which song is gonna win.

Thanks!

David Bowie - Changes
Queen - Flash's Theme
Sindrannaras - Epic Music Mix of Majesty VI

yeah man - we're going two days - however many lists we have - we'll go with it!
If you want to post again using your whole library, that's fine... otherwise we can use this one. No problem either way.

Keep 'em coming!

My whole library exceeds 2500 songs, so I don't think you'd want that.

Alright, thanks. If I'd known that there'd be more than 10 lists, I'd probably have waited until I got home and submitted a list from my whole library (or rather, my family's library). I'll keep the one I submitted, though; this is my first Random Rules, and I'd want my first impression to be with songs that I enjoy.

I'm not sure I'm following you here... yes, actually the entire library would be best. I'm fine with the ipod if you think that better represents your taste, but really I think the bigger the field to choose from overall, the closer we approach a truly random sample for all of us to explore. Sure, you get some goofy picks in there, but that's all part of the fun!

Ron - don't sweat it my friend! It's all for fun - I'm not holding down any strict rules here... I just appreciate you & the others getting some lists in - looks like we've picked up a little steam this month!

Yep, I'm sure the game will be very exciting!

I've noticed there have been quite a lot of Beatles songs submitted! There's actually 3 in my list (which isn't too surprising, since the Beatles make up nearly 20% of the songs on my iPod).

Guys - Thanks for all the great lists! The Jukebox is clearly going to be a bit larger this month.

I'll keep this open another 12 hours for any more late entries - then we'll start the elimination round!
