Hello fellow AM-ers. Here's a game type thing that was popular on the old board several updates ago that I think would be cool if we did again. Basically, you go onto the AM top 3000 albums and find the highest ranked ten consecutive albums on the top 3000 that you have not heard. Here are mine-

702. Sonic Youth- Dirty

703. Johnny Cash- At San Quentin

704. The KLF- The White Room

705. Jimi Hendrix- Band of Gypsys

706. Laurie Anderson- Big Science

707. John Prine- John Prine

708. Woody Guthrie- Dust Bowl Ballads

709. Syd Barrett- The Madcap Laughs

710. Graham Parker & The Rumour- Squeezing Out Sparks

711. Soft Cell- Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret

36 Talking Heads
Remain in Light

37 Ramones
Ramones

38 U2
The Joshua Tree

39 James Brown
'Live' at the Apollo

40 The Band
The Band

41 Joy Division
Closer

42 Stevie Wonder
Innervisions

43 The Rolling Stones
Sticky Fingers

44 Radiohead
Kid A

45 Neil Young
After the Gold Rush

I'm not really an albums guy.

This is just about albums that I have not listened to in their entirety. If we're talking about albums that I have heard nothing from, it would go deeper.

I can't remember if I've heard Still Crazy or not, but if I haven't, here's my first 10:

971 LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out
972 Bruce Springsteen - The Ghost Of Tom Joad
973 Yardbirds - Yardbirds/Over Under Sideways Down/Roger The engineer
974 Ornette Coleman - Change of the Century
975 The Roots - Things Fall Apart
976 Sonny Rollins - Way Out West

520. Tim Buckley - Happy Sad
521. TLC - CrazySexyCool
522. Herbie Hancock - Maiden Voyage
523. John Coltrane - My Favorite Things
524. The Breeders - Last Splash
525. Green Day - American Idiot
526. John Martyn - Solid Air
527. Motörhead - No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith
528. Richard Hell & The Voidoids - Blank Generation
529. Public Enemy - Yo! Bum Rush the Show

Particularly remiss not to have listened to 523. As I love 'Cannonball', 524 is also rather silly. Not heard at all: 520 & 522.

419 X - Los Angeles
420 Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
421 Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast
422 PJ Harvey - Dry
423 The National - The Boxer
424 Leftfield - Leftism
425 Bobby Bland - Two Steps from the Blues
426 Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman
427 Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica
428 Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92

Pretty irritating that I've listened to #418 xx and #429 Red-Headed Stranger. But now that I think of it, there's always a 100% chance of having listened to the top number, so not that irritated anymore  :D

Next thing we could do is listen to these and rate them or something.

Edit: Or at least I'm gonna do. I'll post results to this thread!!! :music-rockon: :music-listening:

That's cool, PlasticRam. While I think it's probably a bit too ambitious for most people, I got an idea for a new thread...

746. Anita Baker - Rapture
747. Roxy Music - Stranded
748. Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
749. Laura Nyro - Eli and the Thirteenth Confession
750. Lee Morgan - The Sidewinder

752. David Bowie - Young Americans
753. LL Cool J - Radio
754. The Byrd - Fifth Dimension

Young Americans is the only album that I'm downright embarrassed I haven't gotten to, but Bowie's canon runs deep. I keep meaning to get to Genesis, as well.

Try this one, one of the greatest albums of all time. You won't fall asleep, that's for sure (well...maybe skip track 4).

Haven't heard most of these either, but these seem promising for you. Especially The Low End Theory...can't believe you haven't gotten around to that one!

The Tim Buckley and Herbie Hancock albums interest me the most here, though I wouldn't mind hearing most of them.

I don't know why I haven't gotten around to The Low End Theory yet, either, to be honest! That's the great thing about this site - there are always exciting things to explore.

By the way, Imperial Bedroom is quite good - I definitely prefer it to the other 80s albums in the poll, and it ranks 2nd behind This Year's Model in the EC discography for me now.

Yeah! I had not been a big fan of Knife (maybe except of We Share Our Mother's Health) until I listened to Shaking The Habitual, which floored me immediately... obvious album of the year for me. Need to check this one out.

They are incredibly popular and respected in Poland and their debut is pretty unique in its grand way (oh well, I could never stand Moonchild, but that's an exception), so I should have given it a shot earlier too... I think reading too much Christgau spoiled me here!

Since I recently listened to the Madcap Laughs, my first 10+ is now :

971) LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out
972) Bruce Springsteen - The Ghost of Tom Joad
973) Yardbirds - Yardbirds/Over Under Sideways Down/Roger the Engineer
974) Ornette Coleman - Change of the Century
975) The Roots - Things Fall Apart
976) Sonny Rollins - Way Out West
977) The Damned - Damned Damned Damned
978) The Upsetters - Super Ape
979) Paul Simon - Still Crazy After All These Years
980) John Coltrane - Ascension
981) Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt
982) Randy Newman - Little Criminals
983) Cyndi Lauper - She's so Unusual
984) Ella Fitzgerald - Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook
985) Charles Mingus - Tijuana Moods/New Tijuana Moods

I might have already listened to Things Fall Apart in full but that would still be a 10 albums gap.

If I trust my follow up file I only have listened to 660 AM3000 albums from start to end. There are about 50 more I can't remember if I went to the end or not, and about 200 I have listened to at least half but either didn't have time to finish and never got back to or gave up before the end.
