Thanks! I spend so much time listening to the music on my lists that I thought I might as well try to make the lists look pretty by giving them a different fond and a bit of colour - maybe it's because I can feel the colourful disco years approaching.

OK, at least now the next all-black list will be a relief after this colour overdose.

Since we seem to be going by when a song first appeared rather than by its release date as a single for the songs list, I have removed Yoko Ono's "Mind Train" from my list, bumped the songs below it up one, and added The Rolling Stones' "Tumbling Dice" at #15.

Thanks for clarifying!

It's a few more hours until the deadline, but I'll be in bed by then, so feel free to keep posting lists after that. I'm busy this weekend so I'll probably post the results this time tomorrow - just make sure your lists are in by then if you haven't already. Thank you all for taking part. :)

According to his official website, this was released in 1973.

I've bumped up the other items on both your lists - nicolas, Exile on Main St. is now at No. 15 for you.

Unless anyone wants to make any changes or add a list, that's it! The results will be up in a few hours' time.

About JJ Cale's "Really", I stuck to RYM, Discogs, Wikipedia. According to them the album was released in november 1972. In the past decade polls the mmain source was RYM so I chose 1972

It doesn't matter anyway, because nobody else voted for it. And that's a pity. A great roots album (side A is a pure wonder, side B is just ok). The anti Allman Brothers : no song is longer than 3 minutes. But nobody really cares for blues and country here, so....

But you have time to listen to it for next month's poll

That's odd, Allmusic has it as December 1972 as well. There must be some definitive release date somewhere...

I hope no one minds waiting another day or so for the results - I've been busier than I anticipated this week! You can probably guess what's No. 1 on each list though...

I can't really argue with that Top 15 (and I'm glad Close to the Edge made it through), but I wish krautrock was getting a better showing in these polls. I suppose with so many monster albums with a large consensus on their quality, it's harder for the weirder stuff to sneak in. If you need me, I'll be in my alternate universe version of 1972, where Faust, Neu! and Can are dominating the radio waves.

Also, Machine Head over Live in Japan? Really, people? :D

Gosh darn it, Neu! just missed it. If only I had rated it as number one... Generally speaking I would like to see more underdogs in the top 15.

Thanks for the hard work TimmyWing!

Excellent job, TimmyWing! Once again, sorry for throwing this on your shoulders somewhat abruptly at the beginning of April!

So, now the question is, who should run the 1973 poll? TimmyWing or DaveC? Or somebody else?

Great work, TimmyWing!

I'm amazed that Yes won over Genesis. It's not even close (double meaning).

Thanks for the support guys! I'm glad I had the opportunity to make the lists.
I don't mind at all if DaveC or someone else takes over from here.

Thanks TimmyWing. Sorry for being so late setting up the 1973 Poll, I'm still travelling and have only occasional internet access.

I am tenaciously maintaining my optimism that Selling England By The Pound & Future Days will make the cut in 1973. To me they are more deserving than Foxtrot & Ege Bamyasi - although I would have liked to see those albums make it too.

Disappointed that The Needle And The Damage Done missed the cut.

"If There Is Something" was so close. :(

Would anyone mind if we subbed it in for "Ziggy Stardust"? :P

Timmy, did you count my album list? I see The Night of the Purple Moon isn't listed but I voted it #10. If so, that might bump Neu! into a tie for 15th?

Well this confirms my suspicion that Ziggy Stardust is the album that is going to win this whole poll.

The album list is again very close to the one on acclaimed music, with only two differences: Yes and Black Sabbath take the place of Randy Newman (who will be missed) and the live album by Deep Purple. I'm glad to seeing Yes make the cut. Black Sabbath is a surprise.

The song list is another matter, as it deviates a lot from the Acclaimed Music template. The top 15's only share 6 songs. Two of the picks of this poll do not feature in the top 3000 at all (Across 110th Street and Moonage Daydream). The one by Bowie isn't even bubbling under! Interesting too that Highway Star takes the place of the much more iconic Smoke on the Water, although I'm happy with this choice, since I love Highway Star and always found Smoke on the Water somewhat overrated. Biggest surprise is the absence of All the Young Dudes, which I considered a shoo-in beforehand, but apparently not. Keeps things fresh of course.

It's also interesting to see how much the song choices where spread out this time around. Only very few of them managed to get 10 votes. With such a wealth of choice it is maybe a little bit disappointing to see almost half of the final space seen being taken by Bowie and Reed, although it's hard to complain of you look at the quality of their songs.

Oh right! I've just realised I've missed out a few albums. Sadly the maximum any of them had was 7 points (I counted most of your votes), so Neu still doesn't make it.

They have another great album (Neu! 75) that I'll probably vote for, so we can try getting them in the list then.

I wonder if it is possible to design a system so we can determine the forum favorites while factoring out the difference in number of people who have listened to the album. It would be challenging and probably involve everybody listing every album they've heard then work a lot like Henrik's formula where albums someone hasn't heard are treated as albums not eligible for their list.

So many people do their exploration from the top of the list down that I think the level of agreement with the AM list gets exaggerated in the results.
