Nobody's favorite year and not mine either. More then ever a nice opportunity to delve deeper, but sadly this was a month in which I hardly had time to do that. it shouldn't hurt to much on my final list, though. It's more there is less bubbling under than the years before.

Songs:

1. Supertramp - School
2. Bob Dylan - Forever Young
3. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
4. Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris - Love Hurts
5. Lou Reed - Intro/ Sweet Jane (Live)
6. Richard Thompson & Linda Thompson - I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight
7. Joni Mitchell - Free Man in Paris
8. Elton John - The Bitch Is Back
9. Leonard Cohen - A Singer Must Die
10. Bob Marley & the Wailers - No Woman, No Cry
11. 10CC - The Wall Street Shuffle
12. Sparks - This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us
13. Patti Smith - Piss Factory
14. Tangerine Dream - Phaedra
15. LaBelle - Lady Marmalade

The only songs that only just not made the list are Dreamer by Supertramp, Autobahn by Kraftwerk, Chelsea Hotel by Leonard Cohen and Ambulance Blues by Neil Young.

Made a change to my list. Because my library only contains the live version of No Woman, No Cry I had it filed under 1975 and forgot is for this list. Added it at 10, moved everything under it down and removed Dreamer. Hope this isn't a problem.

Tie-break pending...

Never imagined that 'Third Uncle' would be the Eno song to make the cut.

Edited to include Jonah's song votes.

How many points for a #1 song? O My Soul had one vote for 50 points, but I had it as #3... so shouldn't it get more? Did I get my votes in on time?

I got your album votes, but I overlooked your songs list. In a few minutes, I will edit the songs results to include your votes. It won't affect the songs top 16 in any notable way (Unlike your Album #12 vote!)

Do I miss something or don't you have any ranking for LaBelle's Lady Marmalade, even though it got multiple votes?

A very pleasant surprise to not vote and then see that all my favorites made it anyway! Thanks to those voting for Eno, Wyatt, and King Crimson.

That is was a minor year is easiest to see in the song list, with quite a few songs with relatively few votes making the top 15. Less consensus here about what is great it seems. 6 songs here aren't ranked in the top 15 of the year of the official Acclaimed Music list. A record I believe. Another record is that no less than 3 of these songs aren't even bubbling under: Third Uncle, The Carpet Crawlers and Starless. Nothing could stop No Woman, No Cry of course. I am a little sad that Joni Mitchell didn't even score in this year, even after getting #1 at the album list. After she failed to get a song in from Blue I thought this was her strongest chance, but no.

The album list is less surprising, although I admit to never having heard of the Millie Jackson album. As usual, everything is in the album top 3000 of AM and only four are not in the top 15.
