1(a). The Smiths
1(b). The Stone Roses
3. Blur
4. Manic Street Preachers
5. Oasis

This is my soft spot, I could vote for 31 of these acts (sans Robbie)... tough to leave out Supergrass, Placebo, Kaiser Chiefs, Stereophonics, Pulp, Suede, Keane, Happy Mondays. makes me kind of wish I put Muse in 00's pop.

The Verve are in what will definitely be another AMF classic... Dream Pop...

To me, this is no contest. SFA are far and away the most consistently great of any of these artists. Only Blur comes close.

2) Blur
3) Oasis
4) Bloc Party
5) (early) Muse
based on their first 2 albums and a half, I would put them higher, but the last 2 are horrible CDs

do you mean dreampop/SHOEGAZE? Greatest genre ever. Too bad no twee :-( They didn't make my list but Ocean Colour Scene deserves better. Their acclaim diminished with the failure of Oasis to generate anything as good as their first two albums. They paved the way for retro classic rock sounding bands like The Kings of Leon and the Hold Steady. Robbie didn't make the list either but why is he so loathed when he went the same route as Justin Timberlake who everyone swoons for, even Pitchfork. He had some great hits especially off his first two albums. Don't judge a book by it's coloUr. Give him a chance.
