Rolling Stone (Germany) - The 500 Best Songsof All Time (2004)

So the Songsof should be two words instead of one in the links. Of course that is a very slight error. Very cool to see it though cos that was the list I found.

This Will Be Our Year by The Zombies has just blank showing instead of rankings. Maybe it should be bubbling under?

With God on Our Side Bob Dylan. There seems to be a lot of these song blanks. :(

Thank you so much for this!!! I wouldn't be so interested in music if it wasn't for this site! :music-listening: :character-beavisbutthead:

Some minor mistakes:

* Dick Annegarn is listed as Belgian, but he is in fact Dutch.

* The Dutch band Nits has two pages, one as "Nits" and one as "Nits, The". I believe they started out as "The Nits" but dropped the The somewhere in the 80s. But it's the same band 8-)

A big thank you, Henrik! Rock On! :music-rockon:

Vampire Weekend's song "Horchata" doesn't have any rankings showing up and is out of order.

Same with "Monday" by Wilco.

"Blurred Lines" is listed twice on Pharrell Williams' page. It also isn't listed on T.I.'s page, though I'm not sure if that's an error or a choice on your behalf, Henrik.

A few items:

* Madonna's Like a Prayer album is missing four new list citations:
The Definitive Illustrated Book of Rock: No Order
Slant: 100 Best Albums of the 1980s: No. 20
Cameron Adams (Australia) - 100 Must Have Albums (2013): No Order
Giannis Petridis (Greece) - 2004 of the Best Albums of the Century (2003): No Order

Were the above factored into the album's current ranking, and just didn't show up on its list of citations?

*Under the lists for Janet Jackson's janet. album, the No. 22 citation is from the Vibe 50 Greatest Albums Since 19993 list, not The New Nation.

--As mentioned in the new update thread, Michael/Janet Jackson's "Scream" is missing the Q 1001 Songs list from 2003.

Thanks again for all the hard work, Henrik. :)

On Black Sabbath's artist profile, the song "Black Sabbath" should be listed first, as it was released on their first album.

EDIT: Actually it appears that you're ordering them in terms of acclaim. In which case, ignore this.

I'm going to do my best to scope out song order issues this year. Your formula is still Single > Album tracks in order, right Henrik?

If so, then Nirvana's ranked songs should go:

About a Girl (Bleach Track #3)
Sliver (1990 Single)
Smells Like Teen Spirit (First single off of Nevermind)
Aneurysm (B-Side of Smells Like Teen Spirit...released a month before the Nevermind album.)
Come As You Are (Second single off of Nevermind)
Lithium (Third single off of Nevermind)
In Bloom (Fourth single)
Polly (Nevermind track 6)
Drain You (Nevermind track 8)
Heart-Shaped Box (First Single off of In Utero)
All Apologies (Second Single off of In Utero. Double A-Side)
Rape Me (Second Single off of In Utero. Double A-Side)
Pennyroyal Tea (Third Single off of In Utero)
Scentless Apprentice (In Utero track 2)
Dumb (In Utero Track 6)
The Man Who Sold The World (MTV Unplugged Track 4)
Where Did You Sleep Last Night (MTV Unplugged Track 14)
You Know You're Right (2002 Single)

Listed the bubblers in case they become ranked ever.

It doesn't seem like Bob Dylan's songs have been updated to show those from bubbling under 3000 to bubbling under 6000. Same with Bruce Springsteen.

"Sun Hands" by Local Natives is not noted as a "bubbling under," yet it has no rank.

On the Jimi Hendrix page, it says Are You Experienced? is number 13. But on the Radiohead page, it says OK Computer is number 13.

Which is which?

Seeing so many errors after just a few hours made me think this was the crappiest update ever, but I think a few of them were because you have the old frames in the browser history. JR and Andrew2014, you need to delete the browser history.

Yes, I have ordered the songs by terms of acclaim, for two reasons. One, it is too much work to keep the chronological/album track order for all artists. Two, for artists with many songs it was very hard to read the list with numbers going up and down all the way.

Let me know if I'm wrong, but I think all songs without a ranking are bubbling unders, so the error is only on the artist pages, where these songs for some reason are shown above "Some songs "bubbling under" the all-time top 6000:".

This is actually the reason why some bubbling under songs showed up among the ranked ones. I forgot to change the order of the songs by terms of acclaim in one of my input tables for the artist pages. I will rerun the artist pages and upload them during the day.

Henrik- oddly, last night when I had refreshed the page for Like a Prayer, it didn't show those four lists- but I refreshed again now, and it does. :) Just a 24-spot jump compared to its last ranking, but three of those four lists were "no order,"so that would explain that, I s'pose.

So, that would just leave the janet. album and 'Scream" Q list from the other post. Are those actually missing, or do I need to do some history deletion?

This is one of the best site updates ever. Kudos. :music-rockon:

Fantastic update Henrik !!!...It's astonishing to see how you put up all this work together! So nice to see all these french and spanish songs being part of that enlargement !!! Browsing through the new pages, I noticed a few dates of albums releases that differ from site to site. Here is an example: THE ROOTS Do You Want More ?!!!??! is mentioned 1995 in ALLMUSIC and even RYM says it was released on January 17, 1995...But WIKIPéDIA claims it was on October 24, 1994...And DISCOGS seems to think the same. How do you decide in the end?

Pharrell Williams has Blurred Lines listed twice on his artist page. T.I. hasn't got it listed at all, but I'm not sure if he's supposed to or not.

Edit: My Little Town is bubbling under twice!!! This is a pretty big mistake. The two places (S&G's and Simon's artist pages) have completely different ranking sources, so it should for sure rank in the top 6000, maybe even top 3000.

It actually appeared on Garfunkel's solo album too, so either have it just on S&G page, or have it on that page, on Simon's page, and create a Garfunkel page. I'm in favor of it being just on S&G page.

On Patti Smith's page People Have the Power is ranked as bubbling under but it is actually ranked on the song list at place 5125.

Also, the full title of Tom Traubert's Blues is Tom Traubert's Blues (Four Sheets to the Wind in Copenhagen).

So Henrik, congratulation for this update.
Great with now 6000 songs but i hope next update will be with 10 000 songs!
As i tell you, i have noticed many errors in the previous update that i have filled in a spreadsheet.
I'll check it with the new update and 'll send you.

An example:
Searching for french songs in lists,
i have bought the edition of "les inrockuptibles 1000 indispensable songs" (2006) and there's 4 errors.
Those 4 songs are not mentionned in the list and are mentioned under another song:

- The Ronettes "Be my baby" > Good Girls (1963)
- The Pipettes "Pull Shapes" > Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me
- Bob Mould "See a little light" > Sunset Safety Glass (2002)
- Bauhaus "Bela Lugosis's Dead" > Spirit

Matana Roberts' 2011 album is listed as "Coin Coin Chapter One: Gens de Couleur Libre" while it should be "Coin Coin Chapter One: Gens de couleur libres".

The artist name of "Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni ba" displays incorrectly as "Bassekou & Ngoniba Kouyate" on both the artist page and the page of their album "Jama Ko".

I've noticed that the problem is that here Patti Smith's page isn't updated at all. The same goes for some other artist pages, though by far most of them are fine. I tried deleting my browser history, but that doesn't seem to make a difference either.

Weird, because place 5125 is shown on Patti's artist page. You could try to reload the frame.

It just isn't working. Admittedly, I have this problem every time for several weeks after a new update. I'll hope it passes. I noticed a few other artist pages that for some reason display they're old ranking. Public Enemy and Girls for example. But I guess it's only with me.

Thanks for giving me a reason to procrastinate for weeks to come! I am updating my iTunes playlist to match the new AM list. I hope to do a year every few days. I will group what I see in a handful of posts. This post covers the 1980s and everything from the 1950s and below.

1979: "Sailing" and "Off the Wall" should be listed in 1979. Each song was on an album released in 1979.

1980: "Kiss on My List" was from the 1980 album Voices. It should be moved from 1981.

1983: Should "Too Shy" be listed in 1983? Rate your music has it in January 1983. So does Wikipedia.

1983: "The Longest Time" should be listed in 1983. It was off the 1983 LP An Innocent Man. "The Reflex" was released in 1983 as part of the Seven and the Ragged Tiger LP.

1984: "Lovergirl" should be in 1984. The album was released in the fall of 1984. The song entered the top 100 of Billboard in December of 1984. "Going to Liverpool" was off of the All Over the Place LP, which was released in 1984.

1986: According to Discogs and RYM, "Danger Zone" was released in 1985, but I don't see how that's the case. It was part of the Top Gun soundtrack, which was released in May 1986. The song first charted in May. And how the hell did that song make the cut anyway?

1986: "Dear God" should be listed in 1986. While it was released as the A-Side of a single in 1987, it was featured on the B-Side of "Grass" in the fall of 1986.

1928: "Ol' Man River" was first done by Whiteman and Robeson in 1928. Whiteman actually cut two versions that year, one with Crosby on lead vocals and one with Robeson on lead (from Joel Whitburn's Pop Memories). Robeson also recorded it in 1936 for the film version of Show Boat. I would assume you would want to move the song to 1928. It seems the AM policy is to go with the earliest recording of a song by a given artist, even when a later recording is the most famous version (for example, AM lists "Heartaches" by Ted Weems in 1933, when it was originally released, but it is the 1947 version that became one of the biggest hits in the pre-rock and roll era).

1950: "My Heart Cries for You" should be listed under 1950. It entered the Billboard chart near the end of 1950.

1959: According to Rate Your Music, "Let Them Talk" was released in 1959.

This is probably the wrong place for this to go, but the "History of AM Forum Polls" hasn't been updated in a long time. The newest All-Time songs and albums polls are missing, as well as the latest 80's and 90's polls.

Hi guys!

Here are the problems I've noticed so far:

- Pages are missing for the following artists: Fito Páez, Die Türen, Ton Steine Scherben, Mocedades, El Último de la Fila, Frida Hyvönen, Markus Krunegård, Gilbert Bécaud, Charlélie Couture, Étienne de Crécy at least
- "Monaco" on the Artists by country page sends to the Monaco artist page
- El Último de la Fila do not appear in the artist list for the letter "E"
- "El tiempo de las cerezas", which is credited to Bunbury & Vegas, is a collaboration album between Enrique Bunbury and Nacho Vegas, so I guess it should also appear on Nacho Vegas' page
- The Stan Cuesta list is not mentioned in the lists for Katerine's "Je vous emmerde", although the song is mentioned in that list
- "Les Rythmes Digitales", aka Stuart Price, is hardly a French artist. It looks like he is completely British and created his French persona only to ride on the success of French House
- For some reason, the first bubbler appears above the "Some songs "bubbling under" the all-time top 6000:" message on the pages for Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys (two here), Prince at least

That's all I noticed so far :)

Beyoncé's "Halo" did not win Record of the Year at the Grammys, but it was nominated.

Rodriguez is listed two times in Lists by Artist, though one of the two links is dead.

Kemosabe by Everything Everything is a 2012, not 2013, song: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kemosabe_%28song%29

Also, is it fair that Sugar Man is listed on an end-of-year list of 2008?
I feel like that

"Brennisteinn" by Sigur Ros should have two n's at the end.
