Thanks, Henrik.
I see the Q ranking is there for "Scream," but I refreshed Janet Jackson's janet.page, abd it still shows The New Nation rather than the the Vibe 50 Greatest Albums Since 1993 (on which it has the No. 22 ranking). Do I need to take further action for it to appear?

Thanks for your work Henrik!
I've checked all the errors I signaled, and only one seems to have not been solved: El Último de la Fila don't appear under letter "E" in the alphabetical list of artists.
However, there's a new one: now, Carla Thomas has two pages, one with the "King & Queen" album, and the other with her songs.

The artist name of Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni ba still displays incorrectly on the album page of "Jama Ko".

I should have told you that I didn't change this one. I thought "El" should be handled the same way as the English "The" or the French "Les". But maybe I am I wrong?Pierre wrote:Thanks for your work Henrik!

Re: Errors in the July 2014 update v. 2
I've been wondering about this particular case, because the pronoun is singular instead of plural, but actually when I read it, I feel like the doubt is absurd, after all if translated to my language "The Time" or "The Tallest Man on Earth" would be singular as well. However, the band doesn't appear under "U" either, so the error still exists...Henrik wrote:I should have told you that I didn't change this one. Re: Errors in the July 2014 update v. 2
I just noticed that "Sisters of Mercy" was in 1968. Shouldn't it be in 1967? It was on Songs of Leonard Cohen.
Re: Errors in the July 2014 update v. 2
Yeah, you're right. it needs to be under "U", in the same order than if the word would not have the accent, I think that between "Ullman, Tracey" and "Ultra Nate".Pierre wrote:I've been wondering about this particular case, because the pronoun is singular instead of plural, but actually when I read it, I feel like the doubt is absurd, after all if translated to my language "The Time" or "The Tallest Man on Earth" would be singular as well. Question; On the "Macarena" page, it lists a No. 27 appearance on VH1 Latin America ("North"), The 100 Greatest Songs of the 1990s (2008)- I don't see it here?

The right link is this, and Macarena is number 27.

I hope I have fixed all the sorting problems now for the alphabetic lists of artists, albums and songs.Blanco wrote:Yeah, you're right. it needs to be under "U", in the same order than if the word would not have the accent, I think that between "Ullman, Tracey" and "Ultra Nate".Pierre wrote:I've been wondering about this particular case, because the pronoun is singular instead of plural, but actually when I read it, I feel like the doubt is absurd, after all if translated to my language "The Time" or "The Tallest Man on Earth" would be singular as well. For the sort, I converted all lower case letters to upper case, removed the '"()[]{}.:-, symbols, and converted ÁÀÂÃÅÄÇÉÈÊËÍÌÎÏÓÒÔÖÚÙÛÜÝ to AAAAAACEEEEIIIIOOOOUUUUY.

LOL Oops.
This is what I meant to link to:

I see it is on the link you provided, but the link that's on the "Macarena" page is the one for the 80s list, rather than the 90s.
I haven't gone crazy... yet.

Thanks stone37! I'll see if I get to correct this one now as well. Very annoying as "Songs of Leonard Cohen" is my favourite album of all time.stone37 wrote:I just noticed that "Sisters of Mercy" was in 1968. Shouldn't it be in 1967? It was on Songs of Leonard Cohen.

Hey, I just noticed that you corrected this, it looks far more natural now, that's great! I noticed something that is something of an error: there's now an entry for Jefferson Starship with the song "Miracles", but the Jefferson Airplane entry features the album "Blows Against the Empire" which is credited to Paul Kantner & Jefferson Starship. I guess you could fix this oddity in two ways: either by combining the Airplane and Starship entries, or by moving "Blows Against the Empire" to the Starship entry.

I picked up the Rhino box set on Brit pop and shoegaze today. It listed "Walkin' with Jesus" as 1986. Discogs and RYM agree.

Discussion about "This Land Is Your Land" by Woody Guthrie:
https://rateyourmusic.com/board_message ... id=5434423
Apparently there never was a single and the first time any of Guthrie's versions was released was 1951.

One more: Stan Cuesta's list of 2000 French songs is not mentioned for Arnaud Fleurent-Didier's "France Culture," while the song is on the list.
Re: Errors in the July 2014 update v. 2
The artist page for Berlin brings up an error message.
The Gap Band song "Outstanding" is from the 1982 album IV.
The Strokes song "The End Has No End" is from the 2003 album Room on Fire.

Re: Errors in the July 2014 update v. 2
I'm not sure about these, so maybe someone can confirm:
In the 1,001 Songs You Must Hear Before You Die's list, these three songs:
Altern 8 - Infiltrate 202
Ray Charles - I've Got a Woman
Paul McCartney - Waterfalls
are not in the book, but AM says they are; and
James - Laid
it's in the book, but AM says it's not.
I saw it in the spreadsheet, not in the main page.

Re: Errors in the July 2014 update v. 2
It might have to do with the differences between the French, English and Latino versions of the book, or with the fact that it has been updated a few times?Blanco wrote:I'm not sure about these, so maybe someone can confirm:

Blanco, you are totally right!!! These three songs are indeed included in the book but in the "10 001 Songs You Must Hear" section, which is an appendix of the proper 1001 inclusions. Concerning the Altern-8 song, Henrik might have been confused by the number 202 which indicates the page number and for the McCartney song, it is clearly a mistake in the book. There is a number behind the song (thus the confusion) which goes to the TLC song WATERFALLS apparently "influenced" by Paul's 1980 tune. It is noted on this page but not as a main entry, and Henrik might have been confused by the number of page behind the song in the index...Last but not least, you are right again concerning LAID, it has clearly a main entry in the book...(Hope it's not too confusing)

Craig Mathieson & Toby Creswell (Australia) - The 100 Best Albums of All Time (2013) has an order, even though Acclaimed Music rankings say "No Order". I'm really sorry if this has already been mentioned.
Here's the thread with the albums in order:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1360
Also, Cameron Adams (Australia) - 100 Must Have Albums (2013) has TEN ALBUMS YOU SHOULD OWN of those 100, so maybe that list could be ranked 1-10 for those that should be owned and 11 for the rest that are just must have. Here's the thread:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1387
Again, really sorry if already pointed out.
Edit: Also I'm really sorry for thinking that Rolling Stone 80s list of Australia was exactly the same as the US, which it is not. I should almost stop posting here with my batting average.

"China Crisis - Wishful Thinking" was released as single in 1984, but already on the 1983 album "Working With Fire And Steel". So the song should be 1983.

No worries Henrik, you got so many lists out there to deal with...That said, I always wondered why you never got interested in this list published by CMJ Bulletin, a reference for indie music, especially since you included the INDIESPOT one. Since the list comes from a forum game it is definitely not eligible. If the Indiespot has any similarities (other than being an indiespecific list) I will probably need to remove it.

Re: Errors in the July 2014 update v. 2
Two things I've been meaning to mention for a while but keep forgetting.
The first one is completely pedantic: John Cage's silent piece is listed here as 4:33 when it is essentially (I use a qualifier here, but I have personally never seen it written any other way aside from here) always written as 4'33".
The second one is more problematic and confusing. Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five is credited with the track "White Lines (Don't Don't Do It)" on their artist page. The song page for "White Lines" lists it as by Grandmaster Flash & Melle Mel, which is how it was initially pressed. However, Grandmaster Flash had nothing whatsoever to do with the song (his name was used in the initial pressings to mislead record buyers and radio programmers), and the same goes for the rest of the Furious Five aside from Melle Mel. Thus, it is weird to see it appear on Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five's artist page since doing so is essentially perpetuating a myth cooked up by record label executives to deceive the public and simultaneously fails to acknowledge the contribution made by Melle Mel, who along with his co-writer and co-producer Sylvia Robinson, is most responsible for the track. Melle Mel currently lacks an artist page at AM.

According to RYM, "Slight Return" by the Bluetones should be in 1995. It was re-released in 1996, which is when it became a hit in the UK.

Re: Errors in the July 2014 update v. 2
When I look at the "From Here We Go Sublime" page, I see a 1st and 6th place EOY rank with no corresponding list on the left.
There's one such issue for Untrue, Night Falls over Kortedala and Person Pitch.
After digging a bit, one list missing is Nöjesguiden (Swedish)
The other I couldn't find, but it must be an unranked list because Night Falls and From Here We Go Sublime are both #1 in it.

You're right, thank you for pointing that out, I need to look at in the future as well ...Henrik wrote:I think it was just released as a promo, so I won't count that.Andre wrote:Reel Around The Fountain from The Smiths is listed as song from 1984.
According to RYM, the song was already released in 1983 as part of a single :

How about Learning To Crawl from Pretenders? I always thought this album was from 1984, but according to RYM, this album had already been released in 1983 in a few countries (France, Germany, Holland, Italy and UK).

It looks that way from Discogs too, but I couldn't find any information that it was released in Europe before the US. Even the US release has a copyright from 1983, so it might be that it is thought of as a 1983 release in Europe beacuse of the copyright date.Andre wrote:How about Learning To Crawl from Pretenders?
