5. Peter Gabriel

Really easy top two, really hard to fill out the rest of it. INXS might not have made it if I didn't get into that reality show of theirs several years ago.

1. Prince

3. Peter Gabriel
4. Hall & Oates
5. Don Henley

The top two were shoo-ins, the next three are artists that I definitely like, but aren't anywhere close to Prince or Madge.

Moonbeam - I'm curious... if The Beatles were added to this list, where would they rank for you? I'm guessing just above Rick Springfield(?).

Looks like Rodelero and I may be the only voters who treasure Winwood's efforts in the 1980's.

The "Arc of a Diver" and "Back in the High Life" albums were both fantastic.

"Talking Back to the Night" was not quite as wonderful, but still at least pretty good.

"Roll With It" was a bit of a disappointment to me, still listenable - but not with enough joy or enthusiasm to warrant repeared listenings.

My guess is that Moonbeam would put the Beatles even lower, say just below Huey Lewis and the News.

I'm in the middle of reading the recent oral history of the first ten years of MTV, so I am not chock full of anecdotes about all of these artists, and their music and videos have been running through my brain non-stop for a week.

2. Madonna
3. Peter Gabriel

Ask and you shall receive! Here is a ranked list of my least favorite 150 artists of all time. This means that The Beatles would be above Bryan Adams but (well) below New Kids on the Block.

I dislike many of the performer on your list as well.

However, as the anti-Moonbeam, please let it be known that my favorites in your least favorite list include:
Beatles
Who
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Eagles
John Lennon
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Oasis
Grateful Dead
Coldplay
Green Day
Dave Matthews Band
Sarah McLachlan
Bob Marley
Matchbox Twenty
Third Eye Blind
Paul McCartney
AC/DC (N.B. - the vocals can be annoying in large doses)
Linkin Park
Evanescence
Barbra Streisand
Smash Mouth

I wonder where listguy places these acts.

Though I’m too late to fit into the rankings, I’m offering my list for the heck of it. I used the artist’s 80s output as my criterion so though I like Pat Benatar a bit more than it would appear, my most favored stuff is primarily 70s era so it hurts her. I’m doing this based on memory so if I’ve listed something as 80s incorrectly or NOT as 80s, that’s why.

1) Prince (Complete walk-away for me)
2) Crowded House (On the strength of the self-titled and my favourite album of theirs, TEMPLE OF LOW MEN.)
3) Madonna (Love LIKE A PRAYER, some solid singles outside of that)
4) Tears For Fears (largely thanks to SONGS FROM THE BIG CHAIR)
5) George Michael
6) Don Henley
7) Men At Work (BUSINESS AS USUAL is still surprisingly listenable)
8) INXS
9) Hall & Oates (the 80s most successful pop hit factory)
10) Huey Lewis & The News (no albums that stand out to me but a long run of good to great singles)
11) Howard Jones
12) Peter Gabriel
13) The Bangles
14) Rick Springfield
15) Richard Marx (would probably be higher if single “Hazard” was taken into account...)

Let's see...I love Beatles, Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, and Green Day.
I like Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Oasis, Paul McCartney, and AC/DC. I kinda like Coldplay.
I hate Evanescence, Linkin Park, Barbra Streisand, Smash Mouth and Sarah McLachlan.
I like Lennon on "Plastic Ono Band", and hate pretty much everything else he did post-Beatles (especially "Imagine").
As for Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, Matchbox Twenty, and Third Eye Blind...I really don't know them well enough to answer.
