The results of our forum’s 2014 albums poll have been revealed, and now it’s time for the songs poll results!

I love this countdown! 20-11 was great, although I will eat up my hat if I'll ever understand all the acclaim for "Can't Do Without You".

I must say though, that I'm disappointed that "An Ocean in Between the Waves" didn't reach the top 10, or even the top 5. There were so many people who suddenly praised it in the EOY songs spreadsheet thread, and I didn't even make a comment there I think. I hoped it would be the great surprise of this poll. Harold and illiniq, where are your lists!?

And while I mentioned in the last thread that I was not a fan of the FKA Twigs album, I actually really did enjoy "Two Weeks". If every song on "LP1" was that captivating, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. I am glad that "Two Weeks" placed highly (though we all knew it would, come on).

It looks like the top 5 is going to be 3 big indie rock songs along with 2 big pop songs...

The highlights for me:
"Sordid Affair", "Calm After the Storm", "A Heartbreak", "Dead City Emily" and "Silver Timothy" made the top 100. Hopefully it will make a few more people to listen to these songs.
Also, cool to see "Shadows of Cool" on the list.

Questions:
Where is Timber Timbre's "Hot Dreams"? Did no one else vote for it?
Why did Warpaint's "Love Is to Die" not reach higher than 695th place on the critics' list?

First, thanks again to Dan for another outstanding presentation! As I’ve said before, I’m more into songs than albums, so I especially look forward to the AMF song polls. (And your choices of artist photos were absolutely awesome!)

Secondly, I was rather shocked that so many songs that made our 2014 AMF Hall of Fame did so poorly in the year-end wrap-up (including my own nominee, “Every Little Thing,” which didn’t make the countdown at all). Was this a case that a lot of weekly chart voters just didn’t vote in the 2014 songs poll? We agreed all year about the high quality of the nominees; therefore (though some did do well), it’s hard to understand how over half of the Hall of Famers missed the top 50 altogether…

jamieW, I had the same thoughts. Before we started the AMF chart, someone said that one potential drawback of the chart was that the EOY poll would be too predictable. Well, that certainly wasn't the case...

It seems like the overlap of AMF chart voters the EOY poll voters is not so big. Having said that, "Weight of Love", "Every Little Thing" and "Outlier" were all songs that I voted for in the chart ,but ended up in the 51-100 part of my list and thus weren't given any points I think.
