Favorite Song and Album of Each Decade
Favorite Song and Album of Each Decade
This is always a fun game, hasn't been done in a while though. There was one sweep, where the artist was the same for both.
50s: "All I Have to Do is Dream" and The Chirping Crickets
60s: "Strawberry Fields Forever" and Abbey Road
70s: "Don't Stop Me Now" and Led Zeppelin IV (AT #1)
80s: "'Sweet Child O' Mine" (AT #1) and War
90s: "Hallelujah" and In Utero
00s: "Hurt" and Is This It
10s: "Midnight City" and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
The only really close calls here were for the 60s song, where "All Along the Watchtower" and "Sitting On the Dock of the Bay" were strongly considered, and the 10s album, where it was a tossup between MBDTF and Random Access Memories.

Re: Favorite Song and Album of Each Decade
I won't bother ranking anything before the 1960s, since I've listened to such a small amount from those decades.
1960s
Odessey & Oracle by The Zombies
"Strawberry Fields Forever" by The Beatles
1970s
Exile on Main St. by The Rolling Stones
"Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin
1980s
The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
"Lullaby" by The Cure
1990s
OK Computer by Radiohead
"Paranoid Android" by Radiohead
2000s
Kid A by Radiohead
"How to Disappear Completely" by Radiohead
2010s
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West
"Afterlife" by Arcade Fire
Now that I think about it, it's got to be a rare achievement for an artist to snag the top spot on an albums list for multiple decades. Radiohead does that for me and it seems like they are the closest to doing that for any artist on AM. I would guess Bob Dylan is the second closest.

I just wanted to be one of those ghosts
You thought that you could forget
And then I haunt you via the rear view mirror
On a long drive from the back seat...
