Bracketology 4?

Post by GucciLittlePiggy »

Hey Listyguy, any plans for a new Bracketology? :D
I just wanted to be one of those ghosts
You thought that you could forget
And then I haunt you via the rear view mirror
On a long drive from the back seat...

We could do one for albums instead of songs.

1- I do not have any plans of doing bracketology any time soon. I don't really think enough time has passed for new songs to have bubbled to the top of the list.
2- The reason that the last bracketology was "top 265 not in the top 1024 in 2008" is because that's how the last bracketology went. It wasn't just pulled out of nowhere.
3- I don't know if any album bracketology could work, because listening to albums is much more burdensome than listening to songs. I will say though, if it were done with the current top 256 it could probably be pulled off.

It was top 265 not in the top 1024 in 2008 to get a different set of songs from the previous bracketology, but it would probably be interesting to go back to just a bracket game with the top 1024 songs (or maybe top 128 of each decade since the 50s and top 128 pre 50s songs).

Anyway, if you wanted to do one with albums, it's be better to just go with the top 256, this way most people have already heard most albums.

I personally would like anything - as long as I get to hear good music and happen to discover a few unheard gems. Songs or albums, I'm happy :music-guitarred:

If we do an albums Bracketology, it might be best to wait until Moderately Acclaimed is over.

2008 is rather arbitrary still. I would support increases after the best of decade lists were already added, since that was the last massive update. Paper Planes really hasn't risen much since the decade ended. Either way, I feel albums is more interesting.

2008 wasn't arbitrarily chosen for the previous bracketology, as bracketology 2 used the 2008 songs update. So the third one was just the top songs that weren't in bracketology 2. I'm also in favor of the albums one personally though.

I'll start the Albums Bracketology on November 4th if that's okay with everyone.

For albums like Are You Experienced and Aftermath that have different track listings for different regions, should we use some sort of standard as to which tracklist should be considered, or just leave it up to each individual to decide for themselves?

Versions aren't specified on the site, so why specify for the game?
Also, versions of songs weren't specified in any bracketology so I see no reason to change that.
