Excuse-me BleuPanda, the question is maybe stupid with the title of the thread, but are the B-sides of singles elligibles? Because, for me, the b-sides are Singles. No?

P.S. : this game is a good idear (like your previous thread "ranking all the songs of an album").

Hm. I think in this sense, I'm considering singles the lead track off of a single; the b-sides don't usually get as much attention, unless I'm wrong.

This is hard for me to decide since I grew up in a world pretty much post-singles as a physical release with a few tracks; singles, to me, have always been the songs bands choose that tend to generate hype before an album is released or are generally released afterward to get airplay. These songs also tend to get music videos, but I'm not sure I want to disqualify something just for having a music video if it has no accompanying acclaim or single. For me, I'm essentially going off what Wikipedia has listed under the single section.

How do others feel? My main goal in the limits is to survey songs that a) aren't acclaimed and b) aren't generally played outside the context of the album. Basically, a track neither the band nor critics have invested much in.

Thanks for the answer. You are god in this game, so you decide. For me b-sides are part of a single and some b-sides (before the 90's) become more well known than the a-sides but you really do what you want.

I just want to know for not make mistake.

I'm just going to stick with the lead single being excluded. After all, the b-sides are literally the b-sides! I'm assuming some of those b-sides that outgrew their a-sides ended up on this site.

Here's my next pick-

Kanye West- My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy- "Lost in the World"

Also, a fun fact: There are only two songs eligible from "Thriller", "Baby Be Mine" and "The Lady in My Life". The other 7 songs from the album were all released as singles!!

There are also only two eligible from Sticky Fingers, because the other 8 are on AM: "I Got the Blues" and 'You Gotta Move". The latter is one of the worst Stones song I've heard, and I'm not too fond of "I Got the Blues" either, but the other eight tracks put the album in my top ten.

Album: Radiohead - In Rainbows
Song: 15 Step Videotape

It feels weird to nominate the opening track. Seems 15 Step is just outside the Top 3000, so I'll go for the second option, which is also a great song.

Album: Sgt. Pepper
Song: Fixing a Hole

I thought it would be more difficult to find an eligible track. While yes, there were no singles, all but three tracks--This, "She's Leaving Home" and "When I'm Sixty-Four", the later being one of my less favorite Beatles tunes--are listed on AM or Bubbling under.

To me, this is one of their more underrated tunes. I was actually a little surprised to see this unlisted.

If I understand the rules correctly, this is Day 2, so I can make another nomination. If so (and continuing my trend of going down the albums list and taking the highest remaining album where I give an unacclaimed song a 10), I'll go with:

Public Enemy - "She Watch Channel Zero?!" from "It Takes a Nation of Millions..."

I think this rule gives us a bit of leeway. It's strange thinking how many big albums have only one or two tracks even eligible for this game.

If we didn't count B-sides, Led Zeppelin IV wouldn't have ANY eligible tracks--"Misty Mountain Hop" and "Four Sticks" were B-Sides, everything else is listed somewhere on AM.

So I'm glad we addressed that.

That's it, 24 hours after my last nomination I will choose a song from my favourite album of all time:

David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars: Soul Love

(quoting another song from the album, it ain't easy; 6 of the 11 songs are acclaimed but the other 5 are excellent too)
(in another 24 hours I will choose a song from my all time #2 album if no one takes it before)

Oasis- (What's the Story) Morning Glory?

Song- Cast No Shadow

Also, 11 of "Revolver"'s 14 songs are found on AM (only one of which, "Doctor Robert", is a bubbler). That means the only eligible songs are "Love You To", "Good Day Sunshine", and "I Want to Tell You".

I'm ashamed I missed this one. I must have thought it was AM ranked (because it should be...). I'm glad it got nominated anyway!
