OutKast (Though David Bowie is great, I don't mind that he's going to dominate this match)
Guns ‘N Roses (Might bother me a little when Queen dominates this one)
Arcade Fire
Elvis Presley
The Rolling Stones
Beck
The White Stripes (This one is hard because the Doors s/t has lately been rocketing up my all time list)
Jimi Hendrix
Guns ‘N Roses (Might bother me a little when Queen dominates this one)

Re: UMT 2012: Round of 64 #3
1) David Bowie...barely
2) Queen...by a landslide
3) PASS
4)
One of my big regrets is not having the money to see Brother Ray play with a symphony orchestra a couple years before his death. And I would have loved to have seen Elvis live but he died when I was seven. They are both giants in rock's progression and rock and roll would be much the poorer if either one had never existed. Ray's country albums are seminal, his Christmas album is awesome and he has a string of great 45s. I only think of Elvis' debut in terms of "great" albums...he's mostly a singles artist to me....so in the end, I tilt it slightly towards Ray even though I love Presley and have all 3 decade boxsets as well as several movie soundtracks of his.
5) The Rolling Stones...not even close
6) Like 'em both but I'm going with Beck.
7) Like 'em both but I choose The Doors at this point
8) Hendrix....not even close
2) Queen...by a landslide
3) PASS
4)

Re: UMT 2012: Round of 64 #3
David Bowie- I think Outkast has a lot of good songs, but I'm always surprised that they are considered the best hip-hop group around.
Queen- I like Queen but I'm surprised I'm voting for them in this round. However, as I said last round, my opinion of Queen has increased because I listened to Night at the Opera. They'd always been just a singles band for me, but that album made me appreciate their music more.
Arcade Fire- It's strange to say a band with 3 proper albums under their belt is top 32 of all time, but two of those albums are classics.
Elvis Presley- Wow, Elvis gets another nice matchup. I think the legend of Ray Charles is amazing, the music just never connected with me.
The Rolling Stones- I'm a little shocked Aerosmith made it this far, but it's the end of the road for them.
Beck- One of my favorites, an artist I grew up with but I don't think any nostalgia is clouding my judgment. He did probably shape my musical tastes though.
The Doors- This is closer. Both of these bands have two albums that I love (S/T and White Blood Cells) and the rest of their catalogs are hit and miss. When the Doors missed, they missed big, like swing and miss and the bat flies out of their hands into the bleachers big. But, The White Stripes never "hit big" on other albums like the Doors were capable of doing. Tough choice.
Wilco- Wilco wins best album with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot but not by too much over Axis Bold as Love so I'll call that a wash. After those albums are factored out, I'm left with A.M. and a handful of Hendrix singles that I like. I'll take A.M.
Queen- I like Queen but I'm surprised I'm voting for them in this round. However, as I said last round, my opinion of Queen has increased because I listened to Night at the Opera. They'd always been just a singles band for me, but that album made me appreciate their music more.

Re: UMT 2012: Round of 64 #3
David Bowie: 20 vs. OutKast: 15
OutKast is pretty great, but Bowie blows them away with Scary Monsters alone.
Queen: 5 vs. Guns ‘N Roses: 15
Schlocky glam-lite is not welcome around the Renner household. No sir! Scuzzy 80s hard rock is, though.
Arcade Fire: 16 vs. Lou Reed: 18
Damn you, The Suburbs. Damn you to Hell. Lou Reed probably would have won anyway on the strength of Transformer and Berlin, but that 16 for Arcade Fire is because I'm feeling nice.
Elvis Presley: 7 vs. Ray Charles: 11
A bit of a meh matchup for me. I've warmed up somewhat to Elvis despite the low rating, but Ray Charles still moves me more.
The Rolling Stones: 10 vs. Aerosmith: 17
This is sacrilege, I know. But I'll take "Janie's Got a Gun" over the entirety of The Stones' catalogue.
Creedence Clearwater Revival: 12 vs. Beck: 8
Beck is an enigma to me - I really hate some of his stuff but have enjoyed some other stuff. CCR is more consistently "pretty good" so they get the nod.
The Doors: 18 vs. The White Stripes: 13
Not a popular choice around here, but I still really like The Doors.
Jimi Hendrix: 16 vs. Wilco: 6
Easiest choice of the day.

CCR beats Beck? Wow, surprises me...like 'em both but I didn't think Creedence had a shot...
