Awesome choice. Almost picked this one. Glad you did. :music-rockon:
Will it be too much if I tossed in Tyrone? I had intended to toss this in, but with Bootsy's marvelous choice of "On & On" and Toni's nominating "Windowseat", I wonder if it will be too much.

I think it'd be fine. If three separate people feel the urge to nominate a Badu song, I think it does a good job showing Badu as an overlooked artist. Maybe someone could even add in The Healer.

Hmm...maybe Overlooked would be a better name than It's Personal? (I still don't like the name...)

Yes, yes, yes! Overlooked is a great name. I get this weird Regina George-y voice in my head whenever reading It's Personal... Plus Overlooked is really what this thing is all about...

You must be reading my mind. I went back and forth between Tyrone and On & On and went with On & On, so I say go for it but you can't use my phone when you post it.

This doesn't feel very personal, so it feels like cheating a bit, but it is eligible so...

Also, should I just begin this tomorrow? I was planning to wait until after B-Sides was finished, but it's not like B-Sides requires anyone to actually listen to anything new.

I wouldn't mind starting tomorrow. It's not like I have anything better to do.

Hm...but if I do put it off until next Thursday, I could give everyone a week to predict the bracket through bracketmaker...would anyone else be interested in that?

Tomorrow is fine by me too... predictions, with such a variety, are going to be tough. And I am looking forward to this game. How long do u plan for each round/stage to last ? If a week, why not run the predictions at the same time ?

I too would prefer if we were to start tomorrow. This game feels like it's going to be very exciting.

Ahh, darn. In that case I'll sub in "Both Sides, Now" - Joni Mitchell (1631) - which would be the acoustic 1969 version and not the orchestral 2000 version.

Thus, Grace Jones - Slave to the Rhythm (2055) gets it!

EDIT: I actually missed Janis Joplin's Summertime (2233)... Please, please, please, can I choose this instead?

Here is the bracket:
http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?tid=463761

I set predictions to be open until next Wednesday; I'm not sure what time that would be.

One question I have: should I do it Moderately Acclaimed style where I do a couple matches from each section? Or should I do each section one at a time? The latter would be easier, and I think it would make a more cohesive picture of what these rankings actually represent, while the MA style allows a wider glimpse of the concept each week.

I'd prefer doing each section one at a time.

I'd also prefer doing each section one at a time. And more than most tourneys, I find some of these match-ups hilariously disjointed (in genre, not quality). Metallica vs. Joni Mitchell? Vince Guaraldi vs. DJ Shadow? A Daniel Johnston piano ballad vs a Pink Floyd psych jam? What fun this tourney shall be.

Some of these match-ups are indeed insane - I just hope we don't have a lot of the unique genres lose out immediately. I'm naturally convinced all my entrants will lose during the first round.

Egyptian Shumba vs A Salty Dog should be at least a Quarterfinals matchup, not a matchup in Round 1. :angry-banghead:

Yeah, and I'd prefer doing four brackets each week.

Also I hate you, Bleu. You paired up two of my nominations: Frank Sinatra's "One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)" and Madonna's "Beautiful Stranger".

BTW what do the numbers represent?

Hurt vs Marcia Baila ? Bloody hell, two of my noms go against each other - I guess this is a sure way of one of them getting to the next round !

EDIT - I guess I'm going to have to hate you too then :)

The number is their 'seed,' so 1 is the highest in its section and 32 the lowest, based on the AM ranking (which means 32 in the first section is actually higher than 1 in the second section); it was mainly there to make it easier for me to input the correct order. I did this simply as a way to be unbiased without relying on a random generator; unfortunately, those two fell in such a way that they ended up facing off against each other. Deceptacon and Rebel Girl were one spot off from facing each other, which I actually would have liked, since it would mean at least one of Hanna's songs would get to move on.

Aw, the nominations are already done...

I prefer the Moderately Acclaimed style of playing, by the way. Although in the end it doesn't matter much. Having said that, if you do each section in one week there will be a lot to digest at once. I think the 16 songs of a bracketology is enough for one week.

Quite excited for this. I've missed most games here the last year, even though I was interested. I'm hoping to get back into it with this one.

Club Foot vs. City Sickness will be a good one.

So will the potential second round match with Knights of Cydonia.

It is definitely anyone's game. So many great songs I can't decide!

Not if I can help it! Queen Madge will reign supreme!

I really do think I may legit lose sleep awaiting the results of these. Especially if my predicted winner gets out early. It's just all too exciting!
