Before beginning with the second round I'm going to post some stats, a redux version of what I did last year:

a) RYM Rating:
Last year I told that "the perfect definition of "Moderately Acclaimed Album" could be an album with a RYM rating between 3,00 and 3,99." This year we have exactly the same fact, oddly even the mean value of the RYM rating is almost the same as last year (now 3,65265625 and last year 3,65503937).

But this year there's a difference, the standard deviation was higher then (0,24931678) than now (0,220239516). Last year there was more dispersion, with an album with a 2,49 ranking and 4 albums over 4. This year the lowest ranked album has a ranking of 3,08 and there are only 2 albums with a ranking over 4, exactly 4,04 and 4,21. Any guesses? Some clues, just like last year the lowest ranked album is a very popular album and the highest is a prog-rock album (we're talking about RateYourMusic after all).

My personal opinion? Maybe the mean value is exactly the same but I prefer the albums we selected last year. But that's absolutely subjective.

b) Year of release:
Like it happened with the RYM rankings, oddly our selection for MA7 ended with the very same mean value than MA6, 1992. This time the decade most represented is the 1990s (last year it was the 2000s followed by the 1970s) and we have even more albums from the actual decade than last year (24 instead of 22), being the second most represented decade.

And no more stats this year. Last year I also included music genres, album length, nationality, participation and winners (among the nominators). This time I'll only add my personal correlation with the overall votes, the final correlation with my choices on every match-up and the final results has been 57,8% (37/64). Not too high but not too low.

And finally not a statistic but a personal list. This could be the Top 10 of albums I'm going to miss the most on the Second Round (excluding my own nominations):
1. Destroyer - Kaputt
2. The Rolling Stones – Metamorphosis
3. Fountains of Wayne - Welcome Interstate Managers
4. Gal Costa - Gal Costa
5. Paul Simon - Still Crazy after All These Years
6. The Housemartins - London 0 Hull 4
7. Elliott Smith - Roman Candle
8. The Sonics - Here Are the Sonics!!!
9. Ella Fitzgerald - Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook
10. Röyksopp - Melody A.M.

But let's go with the next Round! I usually make comments on Round 2 but, due to lack of time, this time I will begin to add comments on Round 3 (sorry, Brad). Instead I'll rank the 8 options…

6. The Feelies - Crazy Rhythms (1980)
vs.
2. Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band - Clear Spot (1972)

5. The Cure - Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me (1987)
vs.
8. Bad Company - Bad Company (1974)

1. Kashiwa Daisuke - Program Music I (2007)
vs.
3. Nils Frahm - Spaces (2013)

4. Susanne Sundfør - Ten Love Songs (2015)
vs.
7. The Little Rabbits - Dans les faux puits rouges et gris (1991)

1. The Feelies - Crazy Rhythms vs. Captain Beefheart - Clear Spot
As good as the Captain may have been, he never made a song as good as "Raised Eyebrows" - but then, very few have.
2. The Cure - Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me vs. Bad Company - Bad Co.
Eh.
3. Kashiwa Daisuke - Program Music 1 vs. Nils Frahm - Spaces
Sorry Nils, today was simply not your day. Perhaps another matchup would have gone better.
4. Susanne Sundfor - Ten Love Songs vs. The Little Rabbits - Dans Les Faux Puits Rouges Et
The Little Rabbits seem like they would have been very successful as a 60s American band, but alas, were not. Not that it matters either way against Susanne's masterful record - one of the best from last year.

I'm going with 1984 and Red...

You're half right, Brad!! The highest ranked MA7 album in RYM was King Crimson's "Red" (that next week is going to face a strong opponent) but the lowest ranked album was not "1984" (two more clues: a) it's even more popular than "1984" and b) it has been eliminated on first round).
And what about the second highest ranked album? Clue: it's NOT a Prog-Rock album…

Glancing back over the bracket, I would guess Adele's "21?" (I'll need to give a little more thought to what could be the second highest ranked album, since there are many contenders...)

Exactly, jamieW! Adele's "21" was the lowest ranked album this year (with a RYM ranking of 3,08) while "Back to Bedlam" was the lowest ranked album last year, with an ignominious ranking of 2,49.
Another clue for the second ranked album: it's from a four-member band, so this reduces the options to 21 albums (because I haven't specified if it passed to the second round, maybe yes or maybe not).

I'm sorry, but Bad Company should have never advanced. It's a pretty bad record.

1. The Feelies - Crazy Rhythms vs. Captain Beefheart - Clear Spot

2. The Cure - Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me vs. Bad Company - Bad Co.

Especially tough call here. Kiss Me isn't as consistently good as Bad Co. but the highs on the former are monumentous so it gets the nod.
