Best Moderately Acclaimed Album of 2016 - Nominations

This is the official nomination thread for the BMAA 2017 game.

The rules are simple. Everybody can nominate one album. It must be an album released in 2016, and must not be in the top 75 of OtisRedding's Mega-Critic chart. Then everybody will submit a ranked list of all nominated albums that they have heard. Final rankings will be determined by a non-parametric ranking algorithm based on win-loss records in head to head matchups of every album against every other album, counting only lists that ranked both for any given matchup.

The winning album will automatically gain entry to the next Best Moderately Acclaimed Album game.

Nominations will last until December 31, then we will have until January 31 to submit lists.

I will start the nominations with Myrkur - Mausoleum.

Jóhann Jóhannsson - Orphée

Yesterday I had the pleasure of hearing this album being performed live, with some extensions. It was a truly moving and transporting experience. I've already become quite the admirer of Jóhannsson's movie scores (Arrival is probably my favorite of the year in that musical genre), but Orphée proved his non-film work still goes a lot deeper. It contains some of the most beautiful pieces of music I heard all year!
With it's classical and ambient bend it is not typical of an Acclaimed Music album, so I'm curious to see how others will rank it.

Thanks, Romain! I liked Ólafur Arnalds in the past, so I was meaning to get around Island Songs soon. I'll probably give it a spin this week.

I'm curious about your selection of this poll. I read your enthusiastic description of it in the Albums of 2016 topic, so I have high hopes.

It's the opposite of Jóhann Jóhannsson :D Full of energy, funny and, for me at last, a feel good album!

I updated my nomination to the first mini-album in Autechre's album, elseq 1-5. Unlike the other discs of the release, this particular album is available to stream, which should make it much more friendly for this competition.

This album has unexpectedly made it to the 17th place in the current end-of-year-spreadsheets. I know it qualifies for this game based on Meta Critic ranking, but it hardly seems Moderately Acclaimed anymore. I don't want to make a fuss about it and am fine if it is indeed included, but does anyone else feel that it kind of doesn't belong here anymore?

We had a thread about waiting for year end spreadsheets and all decided to just start December 1. So the inclusion of Kaytranada will have to be a judgment call of the person who nominated it, otherwise it's officially eligible.

Rob, I thought about this to. At the time I nominated it was not very acclaimed at all but as you said it has come as a pleasant surprise. I wouldn't have any objection to someone saying it doesn't belong in these nominations anymore and I will nominate another album.

Didn't see your post from my post in response to Ron. I think I will leave my nomination as is. I feel like since it was not on OtisRedding's list and then all of sudden made a splash on the year end lists is exactly what the Best Moderately Acclaimed nominations are about at least to me.
