A fine group. I don't know much by Brassens or Gainsbourg, but I'm hoping to give myself more of an education in French music (and any recommendations would be much appreciated - and yes, I am aware of the French Song of the Day feature).

I just recently changed my formula to only include songs and albums I've rated an 8 or higher (I used to include 7s or higher), so artists with a few really strong works boosted, while artists with a lot of minor works I appreciated but don't particularly find impressive collapsed. It feels a lot more personal this way. This is my raw numbers list; I would easily put LCD Soundsystem at the top if I was going with my gut. David Bowie is leagues ahead of everyone based on my score-based list, while LCD Soundsystem is close enough that they'll overtake The Beatles if their next album is a similar quality to their earlier work (or if they have another strong song or two; if it's particularly impressive, they might beat out Radiohead as well).

1. David Bowie
2. Radiohead
3. The Beatles
4. LCD Soundsystem
5. The Velvet Underground
6. Bob Dylan
7. Nick Cave

My username is sort of an accident, I wanted to have Depeche Mode as a thread title and it wound up as my username too and I stuck with it. At the time they were my favorite band, but not since I really got into more music. They would still probably make my top 20, relistened to their discography last year and liked them more than I expected(there was a time when Gahan's voice was really grating on me).
