Errors in the 2017 update
Re: Errors in the 2017 update
Skids and the Skids are listed seperately but i'm pretty sure they are the same group.
Re: Errors in the 2017 update
"I Can't Turn You Loose" was released at the end of 1965. I remember that Bruce corrected me on this years back as "Loose" was in my top ten for 1966. RYM has it in 1966. But Wikipedia and the Volt release date has it in 1965.

Re: Errors in the 2017 update
Kate Nash is listed as Irish for some reason - her mom was Irish, but she was born and raised in England. (And anyone who listens to a song like Foundations knows immediately that that’s a British accent).

Re: Errors in the 2017 update
There’s a slightly odd error for some of Kraftwerk’s songs on the Germany songs list page: sometimes (but not always) the song name is showing as the band name too. See numbers 25, 40 and 49.

Re: Errors in the 2017 update
Was "Proud Mary" released in 1970? RYM says 1971. Wikipedia says 1970 in one place but then twice says the single and the LP came out in early 1971.
"I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)" should be 1986. It was on the Aretha LP, which came out in late 1986.I did not know this until I watched a recent George Michael documentary.
"If Not for You" should be in 1970. Is was on the New Morning LP, which AM correctly lists under 1970.
"Jungle Fever' should be 1971. That's the date provided by Wikipedia and Discogs. The song broke into the top 100 in the USA during the first week of 1972. For a previously unknown Belgian group, that means it could not have been released in 1972.
"If I Can't Have You" should be 1977. It was on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.
"Two Tickets to Paradise" and "Baby Hold On" should both be in 1977. They were on his debut album, which was released in December 1977. Both Wikipedia and RYM agree.
"Sweet Talkin' Woman" should be listed in 1977. It was on the Out of the Blue LP, which was released in October 1977.
"Turn the Page" was released in 1973 originally. The most famous version was the live version on Live Bullet from 1976. Either way it would not be in 1977.
I am not sure about "Love is in the Air." The Wikipedia entry says 1977 in one place (but without evidence). RYM has it in 1978.
"Hold Back the Night" should be in 1975. RYM and Wikipedia agree.

Kevin Ayers’ “The Lady Rachel” is incorrectly listed as “Lady Rachel”.
And Sigur Rós' “Starálfur” is missing the acute accent on the second letter ‘a’.

Re: Errors in the 2017 update
A few very minor errors:
1. In the artists list, Erma Franklin is listed as Franklin,Erma (i.e. without a space between Franklin and Erma)
2. Pulp's "Do You Remember the First Time?" is missing the question mark
3. The original 1956 release of "Who Do You Love?" by Bo Diddley includes a question mark
4. Blur's "Girls & Boys" is written with an ampersand on both the single release and on Parklife
5. Mudhoney's "Touch Me I'm Sick" doesn't have a comma in the title
6. Conversely, "So Long, Marianne" by Leonard Cohen should have a comma...
7. ...as should The Raconteurs’ "Steady, As She Goes"
8. "Sheela-Na-Gig" by PJ Harvey should include dashes rather than spaces
9. Love's "7 and 7 Is" should be written with numbers not words

A few more bits and bobs...
1. The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy's "Television, the Drug of the Nation" is listed with a dash rather than a comma
2. "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" by ABBA is missing the exclamation marks
3. "Who Loves the Sun" by The Velvet Underground doesn't contain a question mark in the title
4. There's no dot after the 'B" in The Beach Boys' "Sloop John B"
5. There's an umlaut on the 'i' of "Marcia Baïla" by (Les) Rita Mitsouko and the 'B' should be capitalised as this was the name of a dancer in the band who had died a few years before. Also, on this particular release the duo were just called Rita Mitsouko.

Re: Errors in the 2017 update
The song Our House is credited to Crosby, Stills & Nash on here, though it should be credited to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Young doesn't actually appear on the song, but neither does he on Teach Your Children or Carry On, both of which he is credited for on this site. The official credits of both the single of Our House as well as Déjà Vu credit Young.

Hi Henrik, I noticed a few little things going through the tail end of the songs list:
Dimension by Wolfmother came out in 2005
Cemetery Gates, not Cemetary Gates
Hang on to Life by Ariel Pink should have a capital L
Fanfare Ciocărlia shows up as Fanfare Cioc?rlia

A few more from me from the songs list...
1. "Rumble" should be credited to Link Wray & His Ray Men
2. Three for Gorillaz: "Feel Good Inc." features De La Soul, "DARE" features Shaun Ryder, and "Dirty Harry' features Bootie Brown
3. Slint's "Good Morning, Captain" is missing the comma
4. "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" by The Smiths is missing the commas
5. Bruce Springsteen's "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" is missing the hyphen
6. The Kinks' track "The Village Green Preservation Society is missing the 'the'...
7. ...as is Morrissey's "The Last of the Famous International Playboys"...
8. ...and The Wonder Stuff's "The Size of a Cow"
9. Belle & Sebastian's "Le Pastie de la Bourgeoisie" is missing the 'la'. I also think 'Pastie' and 'Bourgeoisie' should be capitalised as the song isn't by a French artist
10. Nick Drake's "At the Chime of a City Clock" is mis-titled "At the Chime of the City Clock"

Both RYM and Discogs list Zager and Evans' "In the Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus)" as a 1969 song. Wikipedia claims it was issued already in 1968, but as far as I can tell none of the sources mentioned explicitly confirm this. I think it's safer to call it a 1969 song

A few more things from the songs list...
1. Philip Oakey is mis-credited as Philip Oakley on "Together in Electric Dreams" with Giorgio Moroder
2. A bit pedantic maybe but "Radio #1" by Air is written with a hash symbol
3. "When I'm Sixty-Four" by The Beatles should be written with words not numbers
4. There's no question mark in "Does Your Mother Know" by ABBA
5. Is there a reason why "Million Dollar Bash" from The Basement Tapes album does not credit The Band as well as Bob Dylan?
6. "Ted, Just Admit It..." by Jane's Addiction is missing the ellipsis...
7. "When I Grow Up (To Be a Man)" by The Beach Boys is missing the parentheses
8. "I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met)" by Bob Dylan is missing all the text in parentheses
9. "Tokyo Storm Warning" and "Accidents Will Happen" should be credited to Elvis Costello & the Attractions, not just Costello himself. Incidentally, Blood & Chocolate, which the former appears on, is written with an ampersand and not the word 'and'
10. "The Calvary Cross" by Richard and Linda Thompson is missing the 'the'

Not really an error but a suggestion
Cocciante, Riccardo could be also named Cocciante, Richard, cos he was famous in France.
Also, his song "Margherita" could be combined with the french version "Marguerite", which have 2 other entries

- Stan Cuesta (France) - The 2000 Essential French Songs (2011)

Re: Errors in the 2017 update
Like lagire says, I think only one edition of the book should be mentioned for each song. Here's my suggestion:lagire wrote:I feel very strange that you make 3 different lists for 1,001 Songs You Must Hear Before You Die, and 10,001 You Must Download (2010)
one for 2010 , one for 2015 and one for french version.
It's lists which evolved with times. i only hope that you give in total for these 3 lists a same coefficient that a single list.
Otherwise, it's not fair.
Ok between the french & english version, there's many differences but the french book was conceived from the english one.
And i don't understand the 2 separate lists between 2010 & 2015, there's no so many changes.
At the end, there's songs which are well rated and don't deserve it.
If a song is included in the 2015 version, show that.
Otherwise, if a song is included in the 2010 English version, show that.
Otherwise, if a song is included in the 2010 French version, show that.
The reason why I'm putting the French version last, even though it came out after the English 2010 version, is that the French book merely just copied the entries and replaced some of them with French songs, while the 2015 English version was an update of the previous English edition.
Nothing of this affects the rankings.
