Concerts you have coming up

Tomorrow I'm going to see Anais Mitchell. (And then, this other guy called Bone Eever or something is following her.)

The great thing about Anais Mitchell opening for Bon Iver closing for Anais Mitchell is that it guarantees heavy play of songs from the Hadestown album.

I've also got St Vincent + David Byrne coming up.

I'm going to see Swans in November I think. Since I'm about to go to university and move away from London, concerts are going to be few and far between :(

Concerts are few and far between with a 6 month old, but I really want to see Mission of Burma at the end of September. The probability of that happening is unlikely. :(

On a positive note, Anais Mitchell is awesome live.

On a negative note, why is it every show I go to I'm surrounded by people who think just because it's not the act THEY came to see that it's okay to have loud conversations during the opening act?

I've got Radiohead coming up in a month, on October 14. I'm really looking forward to that.

There is a festival in Melbourne in February with Cloud Nothings, Japandroids, El-P, The men (4 of my favorite albums of the year), Alt-J, Bat for Lashes and others... I don't have much money since I am in Australia, but I think I will still go to this one (would be my only not-free concert of my Australian year...)

Last Friday 19 I went to see Wilco playing live. That was something I haven't planned before but on Monday I was listening on the radio their concert in Barcelona and I called my friend Pepe. "This is something we will always regret to miss". So here we were, three days before on a sold-out Murcia bullring, with our wives and under an umbrella, enjoying the fabulous Wilco playing under the rain. A fabulous concert, I’ve uploaded the setlist on setlist.fm, Nels Cline and Jeff Tweedy were great and they played immense versions of "Ashes of American Flags", "Impossible Germany", "Jesus, Etc.", "A Shot in the Arm" and especially "Via Chicago".
And next Thursday 25... Tindersticks.

Yesterday a splendid concert by Tindersticks. They played in a new auditorium of my city, La Rambleta, with exceptional visual and acoustic conditions. We were sitting on the 4th row and we didn't miss any detail. And the concert was filled with sonic details, with elegance, style and class. The audience ended in ecstasy and Tindersticks were forced to play no less than three encores! The only (minor) rawback in my opinion was that they centered the show in their present, they played the whole last album and two songs from the previous, with only one song from the first two albums ("Sleepy Song"). Nothing strange because: a) their present is absolutely brilliant and b) the old songs could have been much less stunning without the strings.

Before I got hit by a car I was planning on seeing st. Etienne but those plans may go up in smoke. Do they do their first two singles live? I know Sarah wasn't on either of them.

And, after the subtleties of Tindersticks and the comfortability of an auditorium, last Thursday was the turn of the punch of Chameleons playing at a crowded pub. The Chameleons did a great show obviously stimulated by a devoted and enthusiastic audience (Mark Burgess defined the audience of the previous show in Madrid and Barcelona as “rubbish” compared with the Valencia audience), mostly males and forty-somethings (just like me) but with a significant portion of young boys and girls. They played songs from their first three albums with a tight and energetic sound, with highlights as “Up the Down Escalator”, “In Answer” or “Don’t Fall” (sadly I came late and I missed “Swamp Thing” that opened the show). Intense.
And tonight more 80s revival, in 3-4 hours I’ll be playing with Sade (obviously not Sade Adu but my Spanish funk-punk band), a reunion for an only show.

I have 4 shows this year coming up, so far:
-The Breeders
-Beach House
-Tame Impala
-The XX

And I haven't bought it yet, because it's still not open for selling, but there'll be a festival here in Brazil that will feature Blur and Beck. Can't miss that one either.

alt-J will play here in a few weeks, and Beach House in September, too.
In addition, there will be a festival in October with some bands that I like a lot, like The xx, M.I.A, Blondie, and Dinosaur Jr. on the first day, and Queens Of The Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Sigur Rós, The Breeders, Stereophonics, Grimes and John Talabot the second day.
Till now, I only have the alt-j tickets. :c

I'm planning on seeing X play for FREE at Pershing Square. The only price fans have to pay is the fact they have to be in downtown LA in the first place;)

So I got Deerhunter, James Blake, and Savages all coming to a small venue by my school within the next couple months. I'm definitely going to go to one, but I can't decide which. Anyone got any input? :D

Just recently saw the Alabama Shakes with the amazing Brittany Howard.

Next week we have our local alternative rock festival; the lineup includes Weezer, Blink-182, AWOLNATION, City and Colour, Passion Pit, Dan Mangan, Mother Mother, Death From Above 1979, the Weakerthans, Cold War Kids, Yukon Blonde, Half Moon Run, Phantogram, Imaginary Cities, etc. over two days. Always a good show to end the summer.

October 23 my son-in-law is excited about Frank Turner, who I've heard very little of.

Almost forgot, Iron & Wine in mid-September at a beautiful shoebox concert hall, always great acoustics.

And just added... Deer Tick on October 18. Busy fall.

I'd go with Deerhunter. Blake would be nice too, but I don't know how his live setting is.

But if it's a really small venue you're talking about, I'd consider going to more than one.

Doubt I'll have the money to make it reasonable, but with Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar touring together in a month will have to look into it, also looks like I am going to miss out on James Murphy doing a DJ set and a few others also at a festival.

I just saw X and Blondie in San Francisco at the Nob Hill Masonic Center tonight. The bands were both very good, but the acoustics of the venue are subpar.

I an looking forward to the Bridge School Benefit concert in Mountain View on October 26th. Identified performers include: CSN&Y, fun, Queens of the Stone Age, Elvis Costello, The Killers, My Morning Jacket, Diana Krall, Heart and Jenny Lewis. My guess is that Eddie Vedder will also perform even though he is not identified in the promotional material.

I went to a Fuck Buttons concert yesterday and it was quite fun (though well, it's just 2 guys around machines so there isn't that much action on scene).

Next Parquet Courts in October, La Femme in November and possibly the Buzzcocks in October, all of them in Paris. It would be time to start going to gigs in Belgium but my concert buddies are all in Paris...

oh man, Queens of the Stone Age are the best band I've ever seen live, and I don't even like them!! I don't have any recommendations, but give Songs for the Deaf a listen to before you go, just to accustom yourself somewhat to what they're like.

"No One Knows" is my go to song by QOTSA. It is in fact on "Songs For the Deaf", but if you only have time to listen to a few songs, make sure that is one of them.

Thanks Zorg and Listguy for the recommendations. I am enjoying No One Knows as I am writing this reply. Any recommendations from the 2013 album?

Great concert last night. The Arcade FIre set included two new debut songs: 1) Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice) and 2) I Dreamed a Neil Young Song. The former was very good. The latter may not be played all that much as it seemed rather limited as far as I can tell. If someone else thinks that the I Dreamed song is particularly good, I'd like to know why. AF also performed The Suburbs, Reflektor, Normal Person and Wake Up. I plan to provide more information on the concert in the next few days.
