I was really impressed by both of these songs as well! I was under the impression he was just a typical tumblr-lite-pop artist, but i'll definitely be giving Blue Neighborhood another listen after these tracks.Pauler wrote:The one who has surprised me the most so far in 2018 is Troye Sivan. He puts out "My My My" which was quite decent.
Then the "The Good Side", involving Ariel Rechtshaid, Jam City and Allie X, sounds like a indie-folk-Sufjan-Stevens-style mixed with subtle electronic effects. The result is a beautifully written, superbly produced song about an interesting aspect of a breakup.
I have a feeling he might be the Carly Rae Jepsen/EMOTIONS of this year.
Blue Neighborhood is definitely the definition of Tumblr-lite pop artist: it sounds vey current and unfortunately very generic. But both "My My My" and "The Good Side" are sophisticated and show impressive growth so I am excited to see if his sophomore can live up to the hype.notbrianeno wrote:

Is it the chorus yet? Yes! It’s the chorus! Cause we’re on live TV and we have four minutes to play this song, so we’re going to go to the second verse.
Thanks I had already noticed the s & tried the longer link with http only as others appeared to be. I then cut & pasted link again & got the shorter link without the ?... but mustn't have tried it with http.Rob wrote:If it has 'Https' at the front, remove the 's'. Also if there is a question mark in link, remove everything from the question mark on out, including the mark itself.

ColmD, did you have the chance to update this?ColmD wrote:Similar to last year, and against better judgement (!) I have been looking at online lists for best songs of 2018 (so far).

This year I have steered away from genre specific lists (where possible) so as not to lend genre bias. I may put together a top 10 per genre lists if I find enough online (10 is a minimum number)
I compiled the lists from 30 online sites that cover music, entertainment and culture so there may a slight mainstream bias as most music sites used in the year end lists on AM don't post mid year articles.
Anyway, enough talking. Here is the list as at June 30th. I am halfway through the albums equivalent and hope to have that completed soon.
