I believe I brought this up a while ago in a different thread, but I believes Miles Davis "On the Corner" and "New York Girl" should be combined into a single entry, as they are really part of a single-track medley.

Also, ELP's "Karn Evil 9 - First Impression, Part 1" should probably just be changed to "Karn Evil 9" since most of the lists it's on list the entire composition.

I hate to bring back this old discussion, but this thread (particular post #6) provides evidence strongly suggesting that Eno's Here Come the Warm Jets was, in fact, first released in 1974: https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/ ... te.755536/

The album, and songs from, 'Bryter Layter' by Nick Drake are listed for 1971, but it seems to be a 1970 record.

This may have been asked before, but are Jazz albums dated by release or recording dates on here, because i've noticed a few where the release date differs on here from rym/discogs etc.?

Henrik, there's an album which, in my opinion, shoud be included on AM.
it's Gerry Mulligan "Gerry Mulligan Quartet/The Original Quartet with Chet Baker" 1953.
It appears on 6 lists (for lists i have checked, and a lot of AM Inclusion have less than that), all no order.
Also listed as "The Original Quartet with Chet Baker"
- David Toop (UK) - Ocean of Sound: Aether Talk, Ambient Sound and Imaginary Worlds (1995)
http://www.acclaimedmusic.net/forums/vi ... f=3&t=2134
- The Guardian (UK) - 1000 Albums to Hear Before You Die (2007)
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2007/ ... oreyoudie6
- Jazzguide (Germany) - Recommended Records
https://web.archive.org/web/20060223083 ... menu41.htm
- Rondo (Germany) - Jazz Milestones
https://web.archive.org/web/20071014193 ... inhalt.htm
- ZEIT (Germany) - 100 Modern Classics (2007)
http://www.acclaimedmusic.net/forums/vi ... f=3&t=1143
- Jorge García (Spain?) - The 100 Greatest Jazz Records (1993)
I found somewhere one day (but i don't know how) the list.
And i'm not sure it's an non order list, i found several sources which listed as a rank list
http://sesentosos.foroactivo.com/t6059- ... jazz-nuevo

I know all are not absolutely same albums, but this brings together Gerry Mulligan albums with Chet Baker on 1953.
Are you agree with that?

The Zeit list is ranked but then put in alphabetical order with the rank in parentheses.

I am not a Jazz-listener but these lists seem to refer to different albums:

David Toop and Jazzguide seems to name: https://www.discogs.com/Gerry-Mulligan- ... ter/783105
The Guardian and Zeit name: https://www.discogs.com/Gerry-Mulligan- ... se/7569229
Rondo: https://www.discogs.com/Gerry-Mulligan- ... er/1514269 (Discogs seems to only have CDs, but the (double) LP is presumably from 1953).
Jorge García: https://www.discogs.com/Mulligan-Baker- ... ter/197006 (Which the site lists as 1953, but seems to be a 1991 CD compilation (according to the CD 'Festive Minor' was recorded in 1957 so a 1953 release seems impossible anyway))

Of these only the first seems to not be a compilation, and thus AM-eligible.

I believe this (or, a version of this) was included on AM at one time, when Henrik was first adding jazz albums to the database (2005); along with a few other albums, Henrik deleted its listing after re-classifying it as a compilation. I can't recall the specifics of the decision.

Ok but in RYM, it appears on 3 different albums, shouldn't this decision be revised?
And in AM, there's other compilations like that.

Perhaps it should, although it’s a different, unacclaimed, version. It was also mentioned that the original version of ”West End Girls” is from 1984. And Honorio listed MGMT’s ”Time to Pretend” and ”Kids” as 2005 songs in his topic of the most acclaimed books, movies and records.

Who wants these years to be changed? Who doesn’t?

If the rule becomes to file all songs under the release year of their first release, then what other songs should also be changed to earlier years?

The 1985 song by The Smiths appears to be "Shakespeare's Sister", not "Shakespear's Sister".

As far as songs with multiple release dates, I think I prefer the date to correspond to the most acclaimed version. How many 1984 lists did "West End Girls" appear in?

I agree with Moonbeam on preferring the date that corresponds to the most acclaimed version.

But then some dates should be moved to a later year, e.g. 'Walking on Sunshine' by Katrina and the Waves or ' 'Go' by Moby.
