Spotify playlist NEEDS to be cut to pieces

Post by ooooooo »

Hello

The Spotify playlists, especially the All Time Top 10,000 songs are so long, that they are literally impossible to use on Spotify

On Spotify Desktop version, it's impossible to play songs after 1000 songs.

On the Spotify website, the site lags so much at 1000-2000 songs that it is almost impossible to listen to the songs after song #2000.

It's almost impossible just to roll through the names of the songs, not to even mention playing the songs

So please, cut the playlists to shorter playlists, like 500 songs at a time or something like that:

Playlist #1: songs #1-#500
Playlist #2: songs #501-#1000
Playlist #3: songs #1001-#1500
....
...etc

I disagree !
Never had a problem playing it on any of my devices

Besides, when I want to listen to a random helping of the 10000 list, having to play only songs between 500 and 1000 is pointless.
If this suits you, why don't you create those lists ? Isn't there on the net somewhere a piece of code that will allow you to export an excel spreadsheet to a spotify playlist ?

I, too, have had very few problems playing and shuffling 10,000 song playlists on Spotify.

You can always keep the whole list, AND create a new version of it in shorter bits.

If you've never had a problem, try to listen to it in order to somewhere in around 5000, then go to another list, and then try to come back to the exact same song around 5000, and keep on playing the list

The Desktop version of Spotify literally will not play lists longer than 1000 songs.

It doesn't really matter if they work for someone on some platform playing random songs. If they are still impossible to play in order for others, there should be an option to listen in pieces

Sorry ooooooo, but no one has ever complained about this before. Maybe there’s some issues with your computer?

Took some time but I managed to copy the lists to Deezer, in 1000 song chunks

Plays without any problems, and a lot faster than Spotify.

I feel bad for saying as you've clearly spent an age on this and I can understand your reasoning behind it but some tracks bring up 404 errors for me at least...

Well, they are working fine for me. Have you tried different browsers, without adblock, add-ons disabled?

Obviously the lists don't have all the 10 000 songs, because the websites don't have them all. The same with spotify.

(Your quote didn't trigger a notification to me by the way but I saw it in any case).

That might be my problem with accessing it, I'll try on Firefox on my laptop, thanks :) Welcome to the forum by the way, ooooooo! Are you planning on voting in our upcoming polls, including the End of Year and End of Decade ones?

If there would be a poll about slightly changing the all time / decade / year song list ranking systems, then I would vote

There are a gigantic bunch of rap songs in the All Time -list that have never been voted to be superior to any other songs than other rap songs - and still they get ranked higher than many, many other songs, pure classics etc.

I think the ranking should be done so that if a song X is not placed higher than song Y in any critics list, then it should not be higher than song Y in the compiled all time / decade / year -lists

I think this is one of the criteria for "a fair voting system": candidate A should never be higher than candidate B in any fair voting system if most voters have not put candidate A higher than candidate B
