1. The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
2. The Beatles - Revolver
16. David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
28. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
31. The Beatles - Rubber Soul
41. The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
46. Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
48. The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
58. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
68. Otis Redding - Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul
70. David Bowie - Hunky Dory
77. Oasis - (What's the Story) Morning Glory?
83. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II
90. The Band - Music from Big Pink

The middle of the road albums of AM’s top 100. And Loveless.

Idk I feel like there’s some real winners left in-Loveless is indeed the best one left, but Led Zeppelin IV, Hunky Dory and Let It Bleed are all pretty great!

Many of these are great, but the biggest surprise in these leftovers is Music from Big Pink, not Loveless, if only because that Band album usually doesn't do as great in our polls.

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment. Actually, I’ve never really gotten into Loveless (except for ”Sometimes” which has a different, heavier, sound than the rest of the songs) so it’s one of my least favourites among the albums left. But I love that it’s still in the game, as it’s an ”out there” album that wasn’t made to stay alive in a game like this. I suppose that Hymie hasn’t listened to it yet...

Honestly “The Band” really bored me when I listened to it, but Big Pink really spoke to me! I think it’s the far superior of the two.

Only UK albums left. And 10 out of the 14 albums above are by UK/Irish artists. Is British music less divisive than US music?

Hunky Dory wins; yesterday is was deliberating between that one and Sgt. Peppers as the album I would cut. It's one of those albums with some incredible heights, but not consistent in my opinion, but there you go.

I feel the same way, Rob. A lot of great songs on it, but a couple duds, whereas the others in the top 5 are pretty flawless. I contemplated eliminating it just after midnight but decided that might not be in the spirit of the game after voting a few hours earlier.

I love the concept! Would be happy to do it with the top 100 songs. We could also do it for albums/songs of the decade.

It's a good concept - I found it engaging and interesting, and there's a fair amount of drama seeing your favourites get cut. It doesn't reveal favourites so much as the least hated/controversial album, but that's an interesting piece of data.

I definitely think songs/decades are great ideas as Andy says - you need a big enough list to sustain 20ish votes a day from what I can tell, since I got to vote each day after the first. EDIT: And got to make 4 votes.

Fun fact: I went back through the whole thing to make the Final Results that will follow this post, and found two albums, mysteriously disappeared:
The Jimi Hendrix Experience-Are You Experienced? disappeared in between Sign 'O' the Times and Purple Rain
R.E.M.-Murmur disappeared between The Doors and Daydream Nation.
They are placed accordingly in the final results, just thought it was interesting that they seemed to have disappeared!
