Dang bonnielaurel, I either put the Kate Bush version of this song on my list or considered it. I think the instrumentation on this version is a bit too fluffy for me, and I like Kate Bush's quivering vocals better, but I can see how a Billie Holiday fan could enjoy this.

Lena Horne – The Man I Love: 5
I can't really fault anything about it, but this type of ballad rarely grabs me. Lena Horne could sing though!

That'd be more like a 1 for me. I'd forgotten I'd even awarded a 1 on here but I've done so at least once- for Yankee Doodle and that was only because I didn't consider it a proper song (nothing against anyone who thinks otherwise!) I don't give out 1s casually though.
Even looking at my list from an old thread called "Least-favorite songs," I don't see all 1s. I listened to some of the very bottom Biggest Fan songs, but it takes maybe more than they've got to pull the trigger on a 1 rating. There are a lot of musical crimes on my list below, though I wouldn't call any of them morally offensive. (Thankfully no one on Biggest Fan is into date rape or white nationalism songs.)

(Pared down a little)
John Cougar Mellencamp – R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.
Bon Jovi – I’ll Be There for You
Bryan Adams – Please Forgive Me
Mariah Carey – Hero
The Rembrandts – I'll Be There for You
Sister Hazel – All for You
Limp Bizkit – Faith
Blessid Union of Souls – Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me)
The Offspring – Why Don’t You Get a Job?, Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)
Liz Phair – Why Can’t I?
Hoobastank – The Reason
Gym Class Heroes – Cupid’s Chokehold
Uncle Kracker – Smile
Flo Rida – Whistle
Bruno Mars – Count on Me
Michael Buble – everything, or, Haven't Met You Yet
Michael Bolton – take your pick

Smokey Robinson once called Michael Bolton's rendition of Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay the 'soul' version of the song, Otis' original being the 'pop' version- now that's offensive.

Checked my spreadsheet again. Bolton's "Dock of the Bay" is another of those I gave a 1. Meanwhile, Otis's version is in my top 20 of all-time. So I'm gonna have to disagree with the Motown legend on that one ...

I just don’t know how anyone could think any version of that song is better than the original.

Don't know about anyone else but SO MANY Limp Bizkit songs could be added to this list. Fred Durst must be one of the worst frontmen ever! The lyrics, the delivery... pure awefulness!

The '90s had a good chance of being my favorite decade, if it had even kept pace a little bit during the 2nd half, instead of so many of my favorite bands falling apart, losing their way, dropping dead, then being replaced by stuff like boy bands and bad hard rock. (And I'm not sure Limp Bizkit would even crack a top 10 of my greatest musical letdowns during that time...I think I liked Korn less because of all the melodrama. Limp Bizkit wasn't even going to bother with trying to get dramatic.)

What is it with me and forgetting to vote on Saturdays?

Neil Young - Albuquerque: 8
Neil Young decided to take a right turn on Albuquerque and arrived at the right place. This whole album is very raw, both in emotion and in sound. Every song feels like a nerve and so does this one.

Patsy Cline – You’re Stronger Than Me: 6
Like the Lena Horne song two days ago not completely my thing, but I find Cline's voice more appealing.

This band at their peak score an 8 easily for me. I'm just very susceptible for their type of driving hard rock.
