Wadada Leo Smith - John F. Kennedy's New Frontier and the Space Age, 1960: 7
Like a soundtrack to a film that has never been made, regardless of it being inspired by real events. This is epic stuff, but also meandering. Feels like the type of "song" that needs about 10 listens to settle (imagine if that goes for the whole 4 and a half hour album!), but it does have an impressive, cinematic mood from the get-go.

Thanks, Dave! Yes, you were one of the people I was referring to when I said "people who's taste I typically align with," since you've always been someone whose lists seemed closest to mine. (No need to feel guilty, though - I'm alone on an island with that Fish song, unless I want to count Myself.) The good news is my enthusiasm for Thai music will always be present - my wife will make sure of that!
