So I don’t get any songs for almost a year and so I get two in just over a week (and three in two months!). Funny how the Randomizer works. This one is also from my home country (whose landscape gets hilariously misrepresented in the lyrics) and from my birth year. It’s the second appearance by The Nits too and the song bubbles under on AM.

In the Dutch Mountains gets a 10 from me!

Hey, surprisingly from me too!

Although not long, it just feels like the most pompous prog song of all time, with it's big stomping sound. It's lack of subtlety for once is it's greatest asset. It just feels like an epic. It also paints a fairytale picture of The Netherlands that doesn't even seem to have the faintest of roots in the actual country. For those not familiar with The Netherlands: they call it the lower countries for a reason: it's the flattest land on Earth. There is one mountain, which is almost in Belgium. I heard the Austrians aren't very impressed with it. Somehow, the idea of Dutch mountains took root in this band and they decided to make some looney myth around it. It makes little sense to me, but in a way that makes me love the song all the more. It's just great.
