Unacclaimed VII: Submissions Now Open!

Welcome to Unacclaimed VII! The tournament where we ignore the famous songs and focus on the obscure ones!

Eligibility rules:

1. The song cannot be listed on AM, even as a bubbler.
2. The album the song appears on cannot be listed on AM, even as a bubbler. (Although if the song only appears on a re-release of an AM ranked album, it IS eligible, but this must be specified in your nomination)

The above are the golden rules of Unacclaimed.

3. No songs that have appeared in previous Unacclaimed tournaments are eligible. (To give you help, nothing from here, here, here, here, here, or here.)
4. No 2020 songs are eligible, this includes songs released in previous years that feature prominently in 2020 EOY lists. (Such as Blinding Lights by The Weeknd)
5. No classical music for the most part. Tracks from film scores, re-interpretations of Classical works or tracks that could be eligible for AM such as Steve Reich or Arvo Pärt are eligible, but things like Beethoven Symphonies are very much ineligible.

Nominating rules:

1. Please PM me an ordered list of up to 10 nominees (minimum of 2) that follow the above criteria. (I will also recommend including a link to the song, preferably a Spotify link, so I know which version you are planning on nominating)
2. Any songs with multiple nominations will be included first.
3. Then all nominators number 1 nominations get included, then number 2 nominations, etc. until the draw of 96 is filled.
4. The including process is on a first come first serve basis, the earlier you nominate, the better chance you have of getting more of your nominations in the tournament.
5. All 96 songs will then be placed randomly into 24 groups of 4. The only rules are that a group cannot have more than one song nominated by the same person, and a group cannot have more than one song by the same artist.

Voting rules:

1. In the heats, you will be given two groups per week, which each voter must rank from best to worst, first place vote is worth four points, second place worth three points etc.
2. Voters are allowed to skip a group if they so choose, but if they plan on ranking the group on a later date, it must be before the deadline.
3. The highest scoring song in each group will advance to the semi-finals.
4. Ties on points are broken by first place votes, ties on points and first place votes are decided on a sudden death tiebreak.
5. There is a repechage system in which the six highest scoring non-winners of the heats (based off points per voter, then percentage of first place votes) will also advance to the semi-finals.
6. In the event of a tie for sixth on the repechage board, the tied songs will playoff during the first week of semi-finals in which the winner(s) will take the last remaining place(es) in the semis.
7. The 30 remaining songs will then be placed into 6 groups of 5, seeded based off performance in the heats (again, based off points per voter, then percentage of first place votes), with each group containing 4 heat winners plus a repechage survivor, only rule of the seeding in this stage is that a song cannot face a song it has already faced in the heats.
8. The same rules apply in the semi-finals as they did in the heats except there are now five songs to rank rather than 4, and there is no repechage, only the 6 outright group winners will advance to the Grand Final.
9. The Grand Final will consist of one group of six, the winner of which will become Unacclaimed VII champion.

At the end of the tournament, I will reveal all the nomination lists.
