2021 Poll Planning Thread (Voting)

Post by Holden »

Alright, so we've had a lot of discussion over in the 2021 Poll Planning Thread regarding decade polls. I figure we vote to figure it out.

A few notes:
Either way, the 1960s poll is happening, in full, one month per year and a final poll at the end, no matter what. That seemed without opposition. I am hosting the albums portion and Schuttlebirne is hosting the songs. (They will all be on one thread no matter what, however).

We did vote to have 1960s this year and pre-1960s next year, but that poll felt more dedicated towards deciding on when to do the 2010s poll, rather than the pre-1960s poll, and there was no option to have pre-1960s in conjunction with 1960s (which was what happened for the previous pre-1960s poll). Honorio did mention it, but there was not a lot of discussion regarding that.

Here are the options:
Option 1
2021: 1960s
2022: Pre-1960s
2023: 2010s

Option 2
2021: 1960s and Pre-1960s
2022: 2010s

If Option 2 is selected, then the 1960s will be done as normal (one year per month) and the Pre-1960s will be done as a straight set of polls, with no breakdown of years. I believe Honorio agreed to host this. If we go with option 2, there will need to be additional decision on whether to do a pre-1960s album and songs poll, or a pre-1960s albums, 1950s songs, and a pre-1950s songs poll. I figure that should be different from this thread, though.

I'm a little surprised that option 2 is doing so well. (When does voting finish?) I figured that not many participated in the 1900-1950s polls, and that in a way it was like a year off from keeping up with all the polls.

I set the poll for 1 week so it ends on the 5th

Oh, duh. At any rate, I've got a '00s-'40s list this time in the works, unlike last time.

Option 2 would be really disappointing. The pre-1960 poll was one of the best on this forum, because it helped to discover a lot of good music. Reducing it to one poll means treating anything before The Beatles as inferior, something I deeply disagree with. It would be the worst option.

You convinced me. I changed my vote.

She didn't convince me.

Okay, looks like we've decided to have pre-1950s poll next year.
