How did that 1975 record get on this list half a month before it comes out?

They'll have had an advance review copy probably.

This list has some real duds, but I actually think it includes a lot of great albums that other lists haven't: Golden Hour should be a top 10 album of the year, but other lists aren't including it in the top 10 because it's country; Bloom is probably the best pop album I've heard since Melodrama, yet it's largely been ignored by other publications; Honey and Dirty Computer may be the two most universally praised albums of the year, yet Honey hasn't done very well so far.

And based on its early reviews, the 1975's album might just end up giving those two a run for the money.

This is the kind of list that people expect from Time Magazine, but I actually think it has some pretty good highs. With that said, you'll never hear me call a Cardi B album the album of the year.

I am so thankful that this dreadful list isn't eligible.

I think country should be in quotation marks. Golden Hour is no more country than Arcade Fire or Metallica.

Counterpoint: Uh, no. It's definitely pop-y. But it's clearly also country.
