Last decade's list only lists the top 200 on their website. So probably not, unfortunately.

I've never been much in sync with Pitchfork and any of their best songs lists - but despite many worthy inclusions, this is a new low for the site - dreadful list.

Maybe, maybe 80 out of these 200 titles in any way belong. I really don't know what separates Pitchfork from Entertainment Weekly in sensibilities these days other than their more pretentious approach and their continued incessant championing of second rate indie acts like Ariel Pink and Amen Dunes.

No Nick Cave, Parquet Courts, Car Seat Headrest, Swans, Idles, Fontaines DC, Low, Ought,Janelle Monae,War On Drugs,Michael Kiwanuka,Black Keys,Ce Lo's "Fuck You", Father John Misty,PJ Harvey, Sun Kil Moon, Savages,Sufjan Stevens,Sleater-Kinney,Run The Jewels, etc. etc. Maybe they somehow consider these artists album artists only and we'll see better representation on their album list, which have always been more dialed in for me than their songs lists, but still there are songs, and often multiple song, by 2010s efforts from everyone of the these artists that are better than 90% of what made Pitchfork's list. Such a poor, one sidedly Poptimist/Hip Hop representation of the decade.

No, it's definitely real. I don't know why Pitchfork retroactively shaved off the back end of their list, but that's how Condé Nast— er, I mean Pitchfork does.

Better get use to it. US/UK cultural journalism in general has been heading down this path for a while now.

On a different note, apparently Pitchfork have said them will create an addendum for all the music released in the next few months that should have made this list. It's a somewhat satisfactory fix for an issue some of us had with these early lists, though their editorial team still could have waited until the new year instead. Hopefully it won't be too much of a headache for the brilliant minds here that'll have calculate it all...

Pitchfork has been less of a site for music and more of a site for lifestyle branding for the ultra-woke crowd for a while now, sadly.

Not that I feel terribly sorry for Kanye, and P.I.M.P. would be a good choice, but I wonder how this all would have turned out minus all the Kanye antics.

I fucking love this list. Totally unpredictable but varied as well. “Alright” at #1 is simply incredible. Mass respect for putting Mitski and Lil Uzi in the top ten also! For all the shit Pitchfork gets, they did good

All of Azealia Banks' antics haven't hurt her ranking in this list. I think MBDTF will still rank very highly in the albums list.

Azealia hasn't wholeheartedly embraced a president who's the walking definition of "anti-woke." Unfortunately, I think Ye's Trump fixation is (unfairly) going to be held against his music in these polls (although I still think MBDTF is destined to at least be top 5 for the decade when all is said and done).

Banks congratulated Trump on his election win and could start a fight in an empty room (and often has), can't get more 'anti-woke' than her! Of course unlike Kanye she doesn't really have any albums whose placings might suffer in a decade list. Yeezus might suffer anyway, I think MBDTF will make the top five regardless. I don't mind what happens with Life of Pablo, they massively overrated that when it came out anyway (ditto Benji, another album by a grade A nutjob)

In all fairness, Broke With Expensive Taste is a fantastic album, and I hope it ranks high on Pitchfork’s albums list. And TLOP is a fucking classic, although not better than MBDTF or Yeezus ofc.

I like pitchfork but this list didn't get my attention, probably for following the site throughout the decade.

The list follows proposal presented in the list of the mid-decade where it began to cover more genres and mainstream artist.

Indie rock widowers are likely to weep a lot for the genre's lack of representativeness, in addition to losing positions to other genres, rock men were defeated by women like Mitski and Angel Olsen.

Stop the drama Kanye West is not being punished, he has 4 songs on the list against 3 songs by Kendrick Lamar.
Midnight City also fell compared to the mid-decade list and this band's guy is not Trump's best friend ...
and compared to the annual lists, Grimes (despite being in second position) was more harmed than Kanye for having only one song in the Top 200.

Janelle Monae and The War On Drugs Are Forgotten

It's overkill two Beyoncé romantic songs on the list, replacing masterpieces like *** Flawless
I miss some weird things they pointed out earlier like Grouper for example.

Dumb idea from the start to have a final EOD list out like 3 months before the final whistle.

Given P4K's obsession with ticking as many boxes as possible, the list itself stands out for a shocking number of missing names. To those many mentioned above by other members I'll add:
Pusha T (don't say Runaway), Sia (but make that 2 lame airplayers from Adele), Cohen, Grizzly Bear, Julia Holter ...

Sure, there are also a great deal of worthy songs in there but still the overall result is that perfumed tosh one would expect from a fashion mag like Peachfork.

And because it genuinely is the best single album of the decade.

If you allowed the Swans trilogy of The Seer/To Be Kind/The Glowing Man to be treated as a singular work because there's such a consistent/continuous thread between those releases in a Godfather 1/2 fashion, then that Trifecta is the definitive musical high point of the 2010s, but we won't and pitchfork won't, so MBDTF deserves the top spot.

and a day later addendum - I went through my own personal top 100 lists for each year of the last decade to see if my first impression of Pitchfork's list being as bad as it was is justified, and I was wrong, it's worse, way worse. They've completely abandoned much of best stuff they were actually championing in the first half of the decade because it no longer fits their going forward narrative. ughhh! Anyway to not allow it to be included in any future Acclaimed Music Calculations?

That said - I Do have to give them props for the inclusion of Gil Scott Heron's New York Is Killing Me - always loved that album, and always thought that song was pure magic.

No, it's definitely real. I don't know why Pitchfork retroactively shaved off the back end of their list, but that's how Condé Nast— er, I mean Pitchfork does.

Yeah, I liked how last decade's list had 500 songs, there were a ton of gems outside of the top 200.

This one has a lot of the same issues as the albums list - incoherence with their previous lists, prioritization of R&B/rap/pop over other genres, some bizarre picks for certain artists, and the complete absence of many great artists. One thing that stands out to me is three Rihanna songs in the top 100 - are P4K's readers really Rihanna fans? Repeats of the same pop/R&B artists stand out in the absence of a single song by the likes of Nick Cave, Swans, Julia Holter, Janelle, or Run the Jewels.

Just seeing this. I agree with a lot of people's issues with it, but yay for Cellophane being the runaway song of the year! I totally agree with that.
