James Murphy managed to successfully bring his band out of the restrictive dance/electronica field and into the consciousness of the mainstream record buying public. And rock critics took notice.

Every track is a killer! North American Scum and New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down are two highlights, but All My Friends stands above the rest, perhaps as one of the best songs written in the last twenty years. The song, a meditation on leaving your youth behind as you grow into middle age, and reassessing who you are now at this point in your life, became a fan favourite at live shows (check out the incredible live performance at Glastonbury in 2016 available on YouTube), and a critical darling.

One of the albums of the 21st century. One of two albums by the band I would hand a perfect 10, along with 2017's American Dream.
Why don't you sit right over there
We'll do a movie portrait
I'll turn the camera on
And I won't even be there
A portrait that moves
You look great I think
