Oh man, there's so much to say... But I will not comment on every song, just that ones I really feel need to be changed.
1 Pedro Vargas - Bésame mucho (Consuelo Velásquez)
2 Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - Matador
3 Soda Stereo - De música ligera
4 Santana - Oye como va
5 Trío Matamoros - Lágrimas negras
6 Buena Vista Social Club - Chan chan
7 Willie Colon y Ruben Blades - Pedro Navaja
8 Carlos Gardel - Volver
See my note at no. 33
9 Mercedes Sosa - Gracias a la vida (Violeta Parra)
I know that Sosa sings better and everything, but I prefer the original Violeta Parra's version.
10 Astor Piazzolla - Adiós Nonino
11 Héctor Lavoe - El cantante
Very High.
12 Fania All Stars - Anacaona (Cheo Feliciano)
I'm very sorry, but not only do I wonder what this song does in this position, but what it does on this list in general.
13 Café Tacvba - Las flores
Great song, but no their best.
14 Héroes del Silencio - Entre Dos Tierras
15 Roberto Torres - Caballo viejo (Simón Díaz)
The same as Anacaona. Maybe I would place it after the Top 100.
16 Joan Manuel Serrat - Mediterráneo
17 Ritchie Valens - La bamba
If we are sincere, this version of the song is only famous, popular and acclaimed in the United States. A native speaker of Spanish will tell you that it is obvious that Ritchie Valens did not speak Spanish. The version heard in Latin America is that of Los Lobos, which is usually confused with Valens' version.
18 Silvio Rodríguez - Ojalá
19 Luis Miguel - La incondicional
20 Soda Stereo - Persiana americana
21 Manu Chao - Clandestino
22 Los Rodriguez - Sin documentos
23 La Unión - Lobo Hombre En París
24 Juan Gabriel - Querida
25 Juan Luis Guerra - Ojalá que llueva café
High
26 José Alfredo Jiménez - El rey
27 José Feliciano - ¿Qué será?
28 Vicente Fernández - Volver volver
This song is very, very high. Is popular, there's no doubt. But place it almost at the same position as El rey, by José Alfredo Jiménez, it's too much. I would consider it after the Top 100.
29 Celia Cruz y Johnny Pacheco - Quimbara
Yes, she is Celia Cruz. But three things: 1. She can't be before Pérez Prado. 2. This is not the greatest Celia Cruz's song. That would be La vida es un carnaval. Or even La negra tiene tumbao. 3. Vámonos pal' monte, by Eddie Palmieri is the greatest Salsa song.
30
Dámaso P
érez Prado - Mambo No. 5
31 Caifanes - Viento
32 Armando Manzanero - Somos novios
33 Carlos Gardel - El día que me quieras
This one is the greatest Carlos Gardel's song. I would switch positions with Volver.
34 Mocedades - Eres t
ú
35 José José - El triste
36 Astor Piazzolla - Libertango
37 Enanitos Verdes - La Muralla Verde
38 Pedro Infante - Cien años
39 Víctor Jara - Te Recuerdo, Amanda
40 Mecano - Cruz de navajas
41 Charly García - Los dinosaurios
42 Carlos Vives - La gota fría
43 Chabuca Granda - La flor de la canela
44 Natalia Lafourcade - Hasta la raíz
I'm sorry Panam, but I do not agree with the inclusion of this song in the list. Or at least not in the top 100. It is popular, but this does not mean that its popularity is homogeneous: The people I know who like the song are young girls between 13 and 19 years old. I do not say this as a bad thing, but I think it explains the success in sales. I feel Lafourcade tries to be a Lana del Rey but without the great voice. It is not acclaimed by independent critics, perhaps only by corporate ones. Anyway ... I hope I'm not offending you with my opinion. In the end it's just that, an opinion. Maybe include this song after the Top 100.
45 Charly García - Nos siguen pegando abajo
46 Aterciopelados - Bolero falaz
47 León Gieco - Sólo le pido a Dios
48 Miguel Bosé - Amante bandido
49 Antonio Machin - Toda una vida

ón Part
ío
51 Almendra - Muchacha ojos de papel (Luis Alberto Spinetta)
52 Alux Nahual - Alto al fuego
53 Molotov - Gimme tha power
54 Camarón de la Isla - La Leyenda del tiempo
55 Hello Seahorse! - Bestia
56 Maná - Vivir sin aire
The most popular and acclaimed Maná's song is Rayando el Sol.
57 Celia Cruz - Guantanamera (Guajira Guantamanera)
The Celia Cruz version was famous in the United States, but this is not a song from that country. In Cuba, back in the day, the El Negro Peregrino y Su Trio version was THE version. And maybe even today.
58 Pedro Infantes - Cielito Lindo
His name is Pedro Infante, without the "s".
59 Camilo Sesto - Algo de mi
60 Selena - Como la flor
This one is very high. She was famous in USA and a little bit in Mexico before her death, but I prefer to give these places to other artists from Latin America. We already have many US acts.
61 José José - Lo dudo
62 The Champs - Tequila
62 it's too much. Maybe 262.
63 Café Tacuba - La ingrata
There is no discussion here. This is the best and most iconic song by Café Tacvba. I would include it among the Top 15.
64 Bajofondo Tango Club - Perfume
Santaolalla is a musical genius behind many of the greatest bands in Latin America, and this song show how you can do traditional music (tango) in a modern version. I would increase this song 10 places.
65 Gloria Estefan - Mi tierra
66 Los Tres - Déjate caer
67 Bohemia Suburbana - Peces e iguanas
With the exception of Aterciopelados, it is curious how the music of Central America is usually minimized. I would increase this song about 20 places.
68 Moris - El Oso
69 Elvis Crespo - Suavemente
70 Lola Beltrán - Cucurrucucú paloma
71 Alaska y Dinarama - A quien le importa
72 Armando Manzanero - Esta tarde vi llover
73 Hermanos Rigual - Cuando calienta el sol
74 Café Tacvba - Eres
Low. I consider it the second greatest Café Tacvba's song.
75 El Guincho - Bombay
76 Caifanes - Afuera
77 Calle 13 feat. Susana Baca, Totó La Momposina & Maria Rita - Latinoamérica
78 Frágil - Avenida Larco
79 Jorge Drexler - Al Otro Lado Del Río
80 Chavela Vargas - La llorona
Whaaat? Chavela Vargas don't sing this song. She talks this song. And his most famous version was recorder afted the first Lila Downs version. I really think we need to switch to Lila Downs on this one.
81 Los Prisioneros - El baile de los que sobran
82 Marimba Chiapas - Dios nunca muere
83 Shakira - Estoy aqui
84 Danny Daniel & S. Martí - Por el amor de una mujer
85 Willie Colon y Ruben Blades - Plástico
86 Juan Luis Guerra - Burbujas de amor
87 Enanitos Verdes - Lamento boliviano
88 Shakira - Ciega, sordomuda
89 El Tri - Triste canción de amor
Oh man, I really hate this song. Can we remove it? I don't consider it representative of my own country.
90 Joe Arroyo - La Rebelion
91 Soda Stereo - Cuando pase el temblor
92 Maldita Vecindad y los Hijos del Quinto Patio - Pachuco
93 Jeanette - Porque te vas
94 La Ley - El duelo
95 Andrés Calamaro - Flaca
96 Pedro Vargas - Allá en el rancho grande
97 Dimensión Latina - Llorarás (Oscar D'León)
98 Agustín Lara - Solamente una vez
Very low. Deserves at least a top 50.
99 Shakira - Suerte
100 Calle 13 - Atrévete-te-te
Too high. Actually, I would remove it. The only Calle 13 song that I think deserves to be on the list is Latinoamérica.
101 Tito Puente - Ran Kan Kan
102 Bersuit Vergarabat - Señor Cobranza (Las Manos de Filippi)
103 Los Abuelos de la Nada - Mil horas
104 Los Saicos - Demolición
This is punk before punk was invented. It need to be higher.
105 Los del Rio - Macarena
I really think we need to remove this song from the list.
106 Eydie Gorme & Los Panchos - Flores negras
107 Libido - En Esta Habitación
108 Los Amigos Invisibles - Ponerte En Cuatro
109 Porter - Espiral
Not only counting the EOY results when this song was released, this is one of the most acclaimed Latin American songs of the century. For example, if you count every list that Rock en las Américas have made, this one is the 21st century song that appears more times, and always in great positions, like the 6th place on their 120 Songs "Of The New Era", and the 2nd on their Top Indie. Club Fonograma gave the song the 11th place in their Best Songs of The Decade list. Even Café Tacvba covers the song in their national popurrock, their selection of the greatest and most iconic songs in Modern Mexican Rock. And come one... The song is more popular than acclaimed! If considering the criteria Bruno asked, you guys don't consider this the best 21st century song in Latin America so far, at least it deserves the top 50.
110 Juanes - A Dios le pido
111 José Mojica - Júrame
112 Los Bukis - Tu cárcel (Marco Antonio Solís)
113 Caifanes - La célula que explota
114 Rockdrigo Gonzalez - La estación del metro Balderas
In my lectures I demonstrate how this song rescued Mexican music from the lethargy produced in the 70's by the government's prohibition of rock music (and underground music in general), and how it became popular even without being promoted by the television, producing a new wave of rock in Spanish language that influenced the whole continent. Not a small merit, so I think it deserves a better place.
115 Pedro Vargas - Granada
116 Nat King Cole - Quizás, Quizás, Quizás
I would change it for the Los Panchos version
117 Agustín Lara - Noche de ronda
Very low
118 Mar de Copas - Mujer Noche
119 Daddy Yankee - Gasolina
Please remove this song, or I will use gasoline to burn my ears. Haha I hope I'm not offending anyone.

121 Gustavo Cerati - Crimen
122 Mano Negra - Señor Matanza
123 Los Fabulosos Cadillacs y Celia Cruz - Vasos vacíos
124 Robi Draco Rosa - Vagabundo
125 Héctor Lavoe - Periódico de ayer
126 Javiera Mena - Sol de Invierno

162 Él mató a un policia motorizado - Más o menos bien
163 Fito Páez - El amor después del amor
164 Enrique Iglesias featuring Gente de Zona and Descemer Bueno - Bailando
Bailando is more popular, but I think the the Enrique Iglesia's cover Sólo en ti deserves more to be on the list. It's his hit song from his classical 90's era.
165 Los Prisioneros - We are south american rockers
166 La Oreja de Van Gogh - La playa
167 Shakira feat. Alejandro Sanz - La tortura
168 Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo - Manteca
169 Aterciopelados - Florecita rockera

Can we change this song for the classic Puerto Rican song Obsesión, by Daniel Santos? There have been covers, films, books and even new hits that cite this song.

173 Los Incas - El cóndor pasa (Daniel Alomias Robles)

194 Franco De Vita - El Buen Perdedor
195 Jóvenes y Sexys - El Reloj
196 José Luis Rodríguez "El Puma" - Voy a perder la cabeza por tu amor I
think Ágarrense de las manos deserves more to be here. Or maybe we can include both.

199 Willie Colón y Héctor Lavoe - Che che colé
200 Superaquello - La emergencia

215 Joaquín Sabina - 19 días y 500 noches
Very low
216 Extremoduro - So Payaso
217 Pedro Infante - A la orilla de un palmar
The song I originally referred to has the same name, but it is not the song that Pedro Infante sings, but a song composed by Manuel M. Ponce, in the version of Trio Tariacuri.

More notes:
Where's Black is black?! It was the first International Spanish Rock Hit! I really think we need to do an exception with this "only Spanish Language songs" thing.
Panam wrote:208 She’s A Tease - Why? (Does Your Love Hurt So Much) (NOT) English lyrcis
Panam, I don't want to be harsh, but I think you should listen to the song first. Can you please add it again, Bruno?
Los Monarcas del Papaloapan - La bruja
La bruja is an emblematic son that goes back to the end of the 19th century. Of all the versions I know, the version of Los Monarcas del Papaloapan is the one I think represents more the original and non-commercially-recorded versions of the son, and show a mixture of tradition with a skillful use of language, an intrinsic characteristic of the languages of Mexicans, linked to our own identity. In addition, the song have a brilliant interpretation of traditional instruments. Can you please add it again, Bruno?
There are a few more things I think we need to check. We have like four Shakira's songs, but only two Aterciopelados. I suggest one thing: What if we restrict the list to a maximum of two songs per artist? That would increase the variety and eliminate tendencies of favoritism from any of us.
All in all, the list is coming up great! Keep the good work guys!
