Re: EOY 2013 Resident Music (UK)
This isn't the same source as Resident Advisor, is it? If not, I don't think we've seen this one here before.
Re: EOY 2013 Resident Music (UK)
As it turns out, The Resident is a record store in Brighton. Its website, resident-music.com, has decent Alexa stats (current rank: 872,502; sites linking in: 151), and I'm assuming its EOY list is compiled by several people. Henrik, do you think it's eligible? (If it is eligible, their list - contained in the annual newsletter, which is fully available for viewing on the site - is actually a top 100, and I would appreciate it if granit or someone else could transcribe and post it here. Thanks in advance!)

Re: EOY 2013 Resident Music (UK)
There seem to be an increasing amount of lists from record stores. It's really difficult to say that one would be eligible and another one not, and since they are not "the core of music criticism" maybe we should exclude them all (except maybe really big ones like amazon).
I'm not sure about this though. Harold, if you have an opinion I'll go with that.

Re: EOY 2013 Resident Music (UK)
I'm happy to exclude the record stores, but where does that leave the ones that have been part of the spreadsheet in the past, specifically Piccadilly and Rough Trade? Would those be "grandfathered" and allowed to remain?Henrik wrote:There seem to be an increasing amount of lists from record stores. I think you can't exclude a list that meets the criterias. And what about the old lists, that are included?

Re: EOY 2013 Resident Music (UK)
In that case I think Piccadilly and Rough Trade should be excluded too. In the last site update I made the criteria for EOY inclusion stricter from 2010 (at least for the calculations, some lists still appear in the listings) when the number of EOY lists increased rapidly, and I think we could add record stores as another excluision criterion from that year. It's a bit sad to do this, but there's simply enough lists (over 100) anyway.

Re: EOY 2013 Resident Music (UK)
I have to say I agree - although as the editor of the spreadsheet, I may be a little biased in favor of anything that reduces my workload! I'll keep Amazon (which isn't really a "record store") but omit the rest of the retail outlets. (By all means, please keep posting them to the forum, though.)Henrik wrote:In that case I think Piccadilly and Rough Trade should be excluded too.
