Films of the '60s: 1969

Post by Petri »

It's time for 1969 poll!

You can post a list of anywhere between 1 and 15 films (or more, but only 15 will be counted) from the year we're covering. The deciding factor in terms of release dates is the RYM list and the top 10 of each year will go on to the final top 100. The deadline is September 30th.

The points scheme is as follows:
1. 50
2. 40
3. 30
4. 20
5. 15
6. 10
7. 9
8. 8
9. 7
10. 6
11. 5
12. 4
13. 3
14. 2
15. 1
However, these are the maximum amounts of points. If you want to put certain films on your list but don't want to give them too many points, you can choose to give these less points than in this scheme (but never more) to decrease the impact on the overall results. If you don't specifically state that you want to give (some of) your films fewer points, I will assume the standard scheme.

Here are some lists to remind you of the films released in 1969, from a variety of sources:
IMDb
RYM
Films101
RottenTomatoes

It seems that 俠女 [A Touch of Zen] is from 1971 (according to RYM and IMDB) and not from 1969 (I wonder why it was in my 1969 list on RYM). So I edited my own list.

OK here are the results but there's an impossible tie between three movies at #10. There are already two movies in the final top 100 that got only one vote. So we can't change the rule right now (but hopefully we will when we start the 50s poll). Nevertheless if we hadn't changed the scoring system Woody's movie would have got 57 points.

If someone has seen more than one of #10 movies he/she can decide what movie will go to final (dead line tomorrow). If Jirin, Charlie Driggs or someone else still wants to vote I can count the votes (top 9 is in the final for sure). If no one votes (or tell which of the three movies is the best) before tomorrow Take the Money and Run will qualify.
I would love to see everyones #1 of the year but it's so hard to get those movies. Actually I watched Pippi Långstrump TV-series (by Olle Hellbom) as a child and I've seen couple of Pippi movies too. But I think I haven't seen the first one.

#. Title - (Director) - Points/Votes/#1s
1. Midnight Cowboy - (John Schlesinger) - 300 / 10 / 2
2. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - (George Roy Hill) - 265 / 11 / 2
3. The Wild Bunch - (Sam Peckinpah) - 203 / 9 / 1
4. L'armée des ombres [Army of Shadows] - (Jean-Pierre Melville) - 176 / 7 / 2
5. Easy Rider - (Dennis Hopper) - 164 / 10 / 0
6. Kes - (Ken Loach) - 115 / 4 / 1
7. They Shoot Horses, Don't They? - (Sydney Pollack) - 97 / 5 / 0
8. Z - (Costa-Gavras) - 75 / 3 / 0
9. Cactus Flower - (Gene Saks) - 58 / 2 / 1

Pippi Långstrump [Pippi Longstocking] - (Olle Hellbom) - 50 / 1 / 1
Que la bête meure [This Man Must Die] - (Claude Chabrol) - 50 / 1 / 1
Death of a Gunfighter – (Don Siegel and Robert Totten) - 50 / 1 / 1
Take the Money and Run (Woody Allen) - 47 / 3 / 0
