The final results of the 1960s poll were released a month ago. So I hope it's OK to start the thread of movie poll of 1950. JimmyJazz you can take charge in anypoint you want. Each decade poll take almost a year so I think it's good to keep them going (It's also good to avoid having the final same time than in songs and albums decade polls). So I hope I didn't step on your toes too much Jimmy and it's OK to start the poll.
Here's the rules (same as before).
You can post a list of anywhere between 1 and 15 films (or more, but only 15 will be counted) from the year we're covering. The deciding factor in terms of release dates is the RYM list and the top 10 of each year will go on to the final top 100. The deadline is December 31st.
The points scheme is as follows:
1. 50
2. 40
3. 30
4. 20
5. 15
6. 10
7. 9
8. 8
9. 7
10. 6
11. 5
12. 4
13. 3
14. 2
15. 1
However, these are the maximum amounts of points. If you want to put certain films on your list but don't want to give them too many points, you can choose to give these less points than in this scheme (but never more) to decrease the impact on the overall results. If you don't specifically state that you want to give (some of) your films fewer points, I will assume the standard scheme.

OK I have seen only 8 movies from 1950 and one of them is Cinderella which I saw when I was about 4 or something. I'm planning to rewatch it this month. Also I have Marlon Brando movie Men waiting to watch it. All of these seven movies are really great.

EDIT: Here is my revised list. I figure that some of the movies on my list (In a lonely Place, Sunset Blvd., Los Olvidados, and All About Eve) are not really struggling to get into the final list for this year, so I'm lowering them on my list, and boosting some films I want to have a serious chance of getting in!
EDIT 2: Forget about my last edit, Petri. I am sorry that I appeared to be cheating. As I said before, the rankings on my lists are fairly arbitrary to begin with, and I am not so sure that certain films really are in need of help in making it to the final list. It was an error on my part, and maybe derived from my own slight disappointment at the size of some users list sizes. I guess that this is the conflict you were saying about the older years polls, how we are getting to the point where many of the users will have seen less and less films, although there are quite a few users who seem to have seen many as well. This just produces a lack of cohesive balance to the polling that can make the results appear to be a little who key sometimes. I'm not blaming or criticizing anyone here, it's just that, like with song to album polls, it is always good to have full lists sent in to make the results have more weight to them. Once again, I sincerely apologize.

Okay, I am sorry, Gillingham. I will change my ballot to reflect my original choices, although in all honesty the rankings on my lists are pretty arbitrary to begin with. I didn't know that I was breaking any forum rules. I simply noticed that some films that were on my list weren't really struggling to get into the final results, and I think we can all agree on what those particular films are. The problem appears to be some of the voters have seen many films from this year, and some have not really. I am not criticizing anyone at all, it can just create weird results sometimes for (understandable) reasons due to the lack of symmetry between ballot sizes.
Anyways, I have tallied the results and so, if Petri doesn't mind, will announce the top ten films of 1950. That way I can start the 1951 thread. In the brackets are the point total, and then the number of ballots the film appeared on:

I understand you're beef with the difference in numbers of films voters have seen, but I'm afraid it's just something we have to deal with, especially when we go further and further back in time. We had this discussion just before the start of the 50s round.
Still, I think strategic voting is something we should try to avoid. Maybe even more so when you're the one to do the counting (which is appreciated, of course!).
