Films of the Early 20th Century: 1944-1946

Post by BleuPanda »

The rules:

You can post a list of anywhere between 1 and 15 films (or more, but only 15 will be counted) from the period we're covering. The deciding factor in terms of release dates is the RYM list and the top 15 of each period will go on to the final top 150. The deadline is January 31st.

The points scheme is as follows:
1. 50
2. 40
3. 30
4. 20
5. 15
6. 10
7. 9
8. 8
9. 7
10. 6
11. 5
12. 4
13. 3
14. 2
15. 1

However, these are the maximum amounts of points. If you want to put certain films on your list but don't want to give them too many points, you can choose to give these less points than in this scheme (but never more) to decrease the impact on the overall results. If you don't specifically state that you want to give (some of) your films fewer points, I will assume the standard scheme.

Here are some lists to remind you of the films released in this period:
RYM: http://rateyourmusic.com/films/chart?pa ... &year=1944
http://rateyourmusic.com/films/chart?pa ... &year=1945
http://rateyourmusic.com/films/chart?pa ... &year=1946
IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/year/1944
http://www.imdb.com/year/1945
http://www.imdb.com/year/1946

If you vote for 4 movies or less, this is the adjusted scores:
4 votes
1. Movie 40 p
2. 30 p
3. 20 p
4. 15 p

3 votes
1. Movie 30 p
2. 20 p
3. 15 p

2 votes
1. Movie 20 p
2. 15 p

1 vote
1. Movie 15 p

1. It's a Wonderful Life

I feel like posting this list cos this movie is in my all-time top ten. But of course just 15 points is fair.

I just noticed Jirin has voted for Partie de campagne [A Day in the Country].
A quote from Prep and Recommendations thread:
Petri wrote: Also one question about Partie de campagne [A Day in the Country]. Is it a 1936 movie (like IMDB and Wikipedia say) or a 1946 movie (the year it was released officially)?
A Day in the Country is my favorite Renoir movie so I would like to see it in the final round. I was going to vote it in 35-37 poll but I can vote for it now if we decide it's a 1946 movie. Any opinions about the "right" year?

On one hand we've generally been using the release year, but on the other hand, if we do that Passion of Joan of Arc is a 1980 movie.
