Anybody on MUBI?
Anybody on MUBI?
Hey everybody,
So, I just recently joined a website that I have long been wanting and planning on joining for a long ass time, but continually procrastinated until now. For those who don't know, MUBI is a mixture of social media, film streaming, film discussions, and articles by major online film critics. In other words, a cinephile's paradise.
I was just asking if anybody is on MUBI also? I believe I remember Jirin and Chambord are. Also, anybody on here have any interest in joining as well?

Re: Anybody on MUBI?
I haven't been there for a while. Most of the big guys left because of discontent with the management.
Re: Anybody on MUBI?
What discontent were there?
Any other sites you recommend then?

Re: Anybody on MUBI?
Never mind, I have scrolled through the forum. Interesting stuff...
Well, regardless, I still like the site for list purposes, as well as reviews and getting to see interesting films.
So, where did the main guys end up moving to, for the purpose of actual in-depth film discussions, that didn't descend into issues of feminism, MRAs, environmentalism, the Israeli-Palestine conflict, whites versus blacks, nationalism etc. etc. etc.?
I know there is Letterbox, which I am looking into joining, but that is mostly just a list website. I have heard things about the TCM forum Movie Morlocks as well.
Some blogs I do follow:
Girish Shambu
Some Came Running
WhiteCityCinema
Wonders in the Dark
I generally detest the IMDb, but any users of that site that could direct me to genuinely good groups?

I would also say that, scrolling through some of the old threads on that forum, that Dmitros guy was certainly special

This may not be precisely what you're looking for but the DDD forums have a handful of very knowledgeable and intelligent film buffs and from time to time in-depth discussions of auteurs or certain films do happen there. Also, there's always some list projects going on (currently 1930s films and 2014 films).JimmyJazz wrote:Any other sites you recommend then?

Re: Anybody on MUBI?
Right now on my MUBI page, I have favorited a whole bunch of interesting film lists, posted by user Kenji. I am also taking the time to add notable lists to the website, all of which are in the TSPDT database. So, if anyone is curious in those, go right ahead check 'em out.
Re: Anybody on MUBI?
I am indeed on both mubi and letterboxd:JimmyJazz wrote: I was just asking if anybody is on MUBI also? I believe I remember Jirin and Chambord are.

I grade and ocasionally "review" the movies I've seen, on both. MUBI has a great forum too but I haven't been checking that in a while, due to lack of time.
